these are video's to show how I am building up my canter work whether it's only a step or two it's better than what i was doing which was shocking but also gatsby is having to be retaught because he doesn't know what people expect of him when cantering. So it's partly my fault and partly his but we will get there in the end!
I would also like to say that the last video is not my best work as i tend to really struggle on the right rein as I am sure that you can tell but for those of you that have been following my blog a long time you will know the reasons behind this but you will also know that my canter work used to be wild and out of control. Now the few bits of canter work that I do get is calm and under control. If you have any questions about this let me know :) While some parts look awful they aren't as bad as they look we were just struggling to get balanced!

A Girl With A Dream
You should be proud of yourself for working through your fears. It is really hard when you get a mind block. One day things will just click again and you will be galloping all over the place. I fell off once I was anxious just walking by the same spot on the trail, a year later I was cantering bareback by it. Have you ever thought about having a lesson on the lunge line? They are the best for improving your seat quickly.
ReplyDeleteYou dont look bad at all. One step at a time and in no time youll be cantering like your old pros.
ReplyDeleteAdventures of Super Ponies - I am really proud of what I am doing because I never thought I would be back doing the things i used to. I've had one lesson on a lunge line but that was a long time ago, I've not had one since my fall, so I will deffo talk to my riding instructor next week about it.
ReplyDeleteRuffles - I hope so I can fee myself becoming more confident because it was only a couple of months ago where I literally couldn't get Gatsby to canter at all.
I totally understand! I think any horse person who has had a scary fall will agree. Baby steps, you guys are doing great!
ReplyDeleteI think you are right, I will get there eventually before I wanted to rush it and just be where I used to be. Thank you for the compliments :D
