Uni, Riding and Pony Club

Monday, 26 January 2015
Another eventful day has been had today but it ended in wicked horse time at the stables! What more could a girl ask for right?

Mondays means its a full day at uni followed by rushing to the stables and then chilling out. This afternoon I had my lesson on Gatsby where we worked on cantering and oh my god it was amazing. The transitions were not always the best but we are working on that, we cantered a lot, managing to go from one point to the next point without breaking from the canter. We did lots of circles and long side combinations and it felt so good! After the canter work that we did on saturday I was really really expecting my canter to be shocking today but I just managed to get on with it put saturday behind me and do what I do best, enjoy my time with a wonderful horse. We are also now getting to the point where I can work Gatsby in to an outline in-between the moments of canter that we are getting.

Then it was time for Pony Club, we started off the evening by putting the ponies new paddock together. Big Rocky and stan have both got really bad mud fever. So we are trying to sort out a smaller paddock for those guys so they can still get out and thats on dryer ground. All the kids collected together the poles for the electric fencing and the electric fencing and then learnt how to place the poles and how to put the electric fencing up and together. After this we spent an hour putting to bed and I got Percy. He is such a good horse, I'm slowly starting to like him more and more and I really enjoy doing things with him. He was really good to be brushed, skipped out, hay put up and water topped up all of this was done without tying him up. I can see myself spending more time with him in the future but only time will tell with that.

On that note i'll finish with my five good things Gatsby did during our ride.
1. Maintained self carriage while cantering without having to be forced.
2. Responded very well to the slightest leg aids and engaged in what we were doing.
3. Because I have a week left leg, to maintain the canter I have to tap him up using the crop, Gatsby listened to this very well and allowed me to be gentle with it but keep him going when my leg couldn't keep going.
4. Good transitions from trot to canter. They were sharp and effective.
5. Looked for the contact, if I had not got a good enough contact Gatsby looked for this and let me know that he needed me to take hold of him more. While keeping in an outline.

On that note I will leave you with a photograph of a photo that I printed at uni today using the darkrooms, my first 5x4 film developed and printed by myself.

An Eventful Ride With Gatsby - 24th January 2015.

Sunday, 25 January 2015
Well guys, I don't think that this post is going to be very long from me as I am still not quite 100%  back to normal. I've been on antibiotics all week for my throat but that is not getting any better and my ear is now starting to get painful as to. So I think on a day off I need to get back to the doctors.

Saturday I had my weekly lesson on Gatsby and to say it was eventful was an understatement. It started off really well, Gatsby was warming up nicely, he was providing me with a good stretch before I even asked him to pick up the contact in both walk and trot. He was a little bit lazy off the leg but other than that he was being very well behaved.

When I started asking him to pick up the contact he was willing to do it, we needed to get more hind end engagement but it was still really really good. He was soft and forward, we did a small amount of canter because it was important for Gatsby and I not to over do it with the canter work before we tried riding the test as that is what makes me really tired. We first off practiced riding the intro B test, this was the first time that I had ever rode it so I wasn't sure how it was going to go but it went fairly well, we had lots of consistent moments in an outline and we're getting better and more confident at actually riding a dressage test. Intro B is for me to get confident when we get to the show, before I do the test with canter in it. We managed to maintain an even rhythm and get through it smoothly I was so happy with it and Fiona even said that I'm looking much more confident. The key for me is just riding the tests over and over again.

However we then moved on to the Prelim tests, this is where things got interesting. Gatsby had decided he was done and because Tubby was standing in the middle of the school he was constantly wanting to go to tubs, (you will be able to see this on the video) I was starting to feel very week in my hip and was struggling to get Gatsby off my left leg and away from Mr Tubs. I then got to the point where my hip was pushed out of place and I was blocking Gatsby because I was closing it off. I DID ride through the whole test which I didn't think I was going to be able to do. It wasn't very good but we did get through it. When we stopped I talked to Fiona and we've decided even though it will make me un even in my stirrups when my hip starts getting this bad I need to put my left stirrup up two holes, to take the pressure off my leg and make it so I can keep riding. After I rode through the prelim test I did get really upset while I was on Gatsby and then when I took him in to the stable to get sorted he know I wasn't very happy. Normally Gatsby would go straight to his food but not on saturday he stayed by me and followed me around he kept resting his head on me. I think he thought that I was mad at him and because of the bond that we have got I think he wanted to try and make that better. So we left on a good note after lots of cuddles and kisses.

Having cuddles and Gatsby trying to say that he was sorry. Bless him.
I have got some videos from our lesson, I got a video of the Intro B test all the way through and I got a video of our very bad prelim test. While I am so annoyed at how the prelim test went, the positives is we got through it all, and it didn't look completely awful. We know what we need to improve before we go to Broomfield, and we know our strengths and weaknesses. I've still got just over a month to ride through it and perfect it and we will just have to see what happens.

Now to end my post with the 5 things Gatsby did well.

1. Warmed up well, he provided a good stretch and was listening from the start.
2. When we were warming up we did some small rein backs to get him stepping underneath. He was foot perfect on these and it really helped him out.
3. When asked to go in to an outline he did it straight away, without hesitation and he kept in the outline until I asked him (Whether on purpose or by accident) to come out of it.
4. His free walks are amazing! He stretches so well and really goes in to the contact on the long rein while covering a good amount of ground.
5. He knows how to make me feel a million times better, yes this isn't riding related but still. Gatsby was great after our lesson, he knew that I just needed some Gatsby time where I could stroke him and hug him to cheer me up and that's what he gave to me. He is the worlds best horse and I love him to pieces. If I am any where near as lucky to find a horse like Gatsby when I get my own horse I will be over the moon.

Busy few days

Wednesday, 21 January 2015
I've had a good few days. Monday I had my night out with the uni girls, it was a good night and we had a proper giggle, yes it was a knackering night and I felt shattered the next morning but it was so fun and I enjoyed it for a change. I also had pony club monday night and it went really well. We worked on grooming horses properly and how to look after a horse in cold weather and snow as we have had snow again.
The uni girls :D
Tuesday (yesterday) I went to uni in the morning and then spent the day in bed, other than going to the doctors where it was confirmed I do have tonsillitis, I basically slept for twenty four hours.

Wednesday (today), I went to work this morning, I've really been struggling with my throat but decided to ignore that and just get on with it and enjoy myself. I mucked out four stables and helped to fill hay nets, I was there for two hours and it was so cold! Gatsby was glad to be bought in by the end of the morning, he's not enjoying the snow and literally stood by his gate waiting to come in the whole morning.

Just a quick post :D

Sunday, 18 January 2015
well this is just a quick post from me!

I've not done anything interesting today but I am back at uni tomorrow, and then after I have finished at uni, I am off to the stables for pony club. Mondays are going to be really hectic days from me but I'm going to try and do lots more posts that include pictures of all the silly things i get up to. I might not post tomorrow night though as the girls from university and I are having a girly night out. So that's going to be really really cool. Well that is as long as I am feeling better, I'm not sure but I have a feeling I've got tonsillitis coming back AGAIN! For those of you that have been following my blog for a while you will know that I have had this on and off quite a lot recently, so I'm now keeping a record of it so I can show my doctors and then maybe they'll get rid of the stupid things.

Anyway it's getting late so i'm going to head to bed, I just thought I'd give you a quick update on what is going on here.

Practicing my dressage test - 17th January 2015

Today I rode Gatsby, it was amazing! I have now managed to remember my dressage test well the 2nd one (the hardest one) and started my walk warm up by practicing it. I walked through the whole test before moving on to doing sections of the test in trot. I warmed up for about five minutes on each rein in walk and then roughly four minutes in trot, before picking up. At this point I did not want to ask for the canter because I know that canter work it what wares me out and this made a whole difference to the test. I managed to ride it through a lot more positively. The only bit of canter work that I did in the warm up was half a 20m circle twist.

I then moved on to riding through the test. For me I needed to not stress out and just focusing on my riding at the end of the day. I KNOW what I am doing, I CAN ride all of these movements separately now all I need to do is string them together. So when I went on to riding through the test this is what I needed to remember.

When I rode through the test, Gatsby got a little bit excited, he wanted to canter as soon as we came off the centre line. We had more consistent amounts of outline and we even managed to pick up the outline again after we did the canter which is something that I normally struggle to do. I rode through the whole test and even managed to get the canter parts right, we had a couple of moments in the canter that I need to work on for example the main part of the canter is cantering up the long side, doing a 20m circle at C and then cantering down the next long side, this is on the right rein. Here I fell out of the canter for about 5 steps on the 20m circle but I DID manage to pick it back up again and ride the rest of the test through. On the next part of the canter I did fall out of the canter just before the marker but this is something that I can work on in the future. Even though this is only the second time that I have rode through the test my positive thinking and attitude is a lot better which meant a greatly improved ride on Gatsby! I even have video footage of me riding through the test.

We then spent 10 minutes really cooling down, Gatsby worked so hard for me and I am so happy with the work that he gave me, so I made sure that he got a nice stretch and cool down, which he loved. After we had cooled down we discussed the things that we needed to work on and this is what we got.

- Canter - we need to keep it together all the time and go more in to the corners when we are cantering, this is something that we can do.
- walk steps, in the test twice you have to transition from trot to walk for 3-5 steps then back up to trot.
- using the corners of the school more effectively.
- Getting the outline 100% of the time meaning that we are always working at our best.
- Riding Gatsby in a snaffle, at the minute I think that he is in a gag, but I think we will ride just as well in a snaffle but we will soon see.

Now to finish off this post I have decided to do one of the things that is on my list. I am going to list five things that Gatsby did well after each ride for a month so here goes.

1) Gatsby was listening really well, he knew what I wanted him to do and he did it.
2) Gatsby softened and worked in an outline very well. This is something we have been working on for a while and today he was very good.
3) Gatsby was extremely good at putting up with my 'noisy hands', something that I am currently working on.
4) Gatsby's canter work was strong and forward, he was really willing to give me what I want, I love that this horse will always try his best for who ever it is that is riding him.
5) He was extremely good to be washed down and dried off after our ride.

I hope you enjoyed this post and the videos, feel free to leave my any constructive criticism or comments that you guys have they would be greatly appreciated.

First Day Complete

Wednesday, 14 January 2015
Today has been a good first day working at my stables, I'm getting paid £6 an hour, and working for two hours a morning, this morning I mucked out the boys stables, it's a row of five. I did everyone but Gatsbys because Gatsby's stable was completely and utterly ditched. So Fiona went out to get him some Aquamax bedding. Then I helped Fiona to bring the horses in. It was a really good morning and I felt loads better after being there and working. Just before I was about to leave fiona asked if it would be possible for me to work Thursday mornings as well, so tomorrow I am back at the stables again but this time it'll be from 8am until 10am. I'm getting paid weekly and all the money that I make is being saved up and going straight back in to my savings account. I'm loving spending so much time at the stables, I feel that it is helping to improve my health and help me lose weight.

Anyway I'm curled up in my bed with my nephew so I'm going to leave you with this cute picture.
My favourite nephew hugging my favourite child hood toy, Smokey the cat!

First working day tomorrow :D

Tuesday, 13 January 2015
Hiya everyone,

well theres no news on the horse front at the minute and I've had a really boring day today, I've basically spent most of the day just sleeping (hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight). I did go to boots to weigh myself and have discovered that I have lost 2ibs in the last week. For those of you that are interested in my weight loss journey I have also created a page that is called 'Weight loss progress', here you'll be able to see the changes each week and how much I put on or lose during a week. This is more for my own benefit but feel free to check it out.

Tomorrow I officially start working at my stables it's going to be so much fun and I really can not wait. I saw this photograph on Facebook and thought that I would share it with you guys :D

Busy but productive day at the stables

Monday, 12 January 2015
Today has been a good day but a long day at the stables, I got there for 9.30 this morning to help Fiona out and Suzanne came up to help out too. We had all the horses to muck out and the weather was horrible, it was chucking it down. I mucked out Little Rocky, Percy, Gatsby, Soly and Sam's stable. I then put in their stables Gatsby (the trouble maker), Sam, Vettie, Chloe, Fussy, Rosie and then Fiona did the others. We then started debating bedding, for the past few months the stables have had straw pellet bedding in, but it looks dirty all the time. Yes it's easier to muck out but it doesn't look good. Thursday Fiona decided to put in Bliss bedding, this looks amazing, and smells clean and fresh BUT is a nightmare to muck out, it takes forever, it clumps together and you end up taking to much of the bedding out. So we're going back to using Aqua max bedding at the minute. That looks clean and fresh and is easy to muck out but it's expensive!

After I'd finished helping out in the morning (about 12.30/1pm) I went home for a few hours before being back for my lesson at 3.50 for half an hour. I got to ride Vettie and we did get some really good work, we had nice transitions, with lots of energy and lift. We spent the majority of the lesson working in an outline, even on his bad rein. Vettie is stiffer to the left (he's 25) so normally the outline is harder to get to the lift however today I found that the outline for me was easier to get going to the left because I didn't need to use my left shoulder as much (which I was really struggling with, I need to strengthen my left arm). I was really happy with the work that we did, we even did circles were we made the circle smaller by leg yielding in to the middle then made it bigger by leg yielding back out. It all worked so well and I'm so happy with it.

At Pony Club we were working on the training for the E test, which gave me the opportunity to get on Gatsby. I was only on Gatsby for 10-15 minutes but it felt amazing. Gatsby was supple, soft and working really well in an outline. We worked in an outline the whole way through it. We were only really doing beginner work (walk and trot in a straight line, on or off a lead rope). For the rest of pony club we laughed and joked and skipped out the rest of the stables. We had a really good time and I really enjoyed it.
Just because my chinchillas are super cute, Bruce is on the top sitting on the house thing, and Patrick is trying to climb out the cage, this is always what these two are like. But I LOVE them!

I have no idea what the plan is for tomorrow I know I officially start working at my stables on Wednesday and I am pretty sure that I have my nephew coming over on Wednesday.
And of course if I put up photographs of the Chinchillas then I can not miss out a photograph of the puppy dog, Angel kept me company for a while in bed last night. She was very warm and I appreciated the little hot water bottle ;D

I saw Jack yesterday too, only 30 days until he's home :).

No Riding Today :(

Saturday, 10 January 2015
Well today has been a long day and also a kind of boring day. I haven't been able to go riding today, unfortunately we have been given some really bad weather and today did not let down. When I got in last night at about 7pm I knew that the weather was not going to be good, the wind was getting worse and worse and when I was driving there was lots of branches and assorts all over the road. When I was say watching T.V. with my mum and dad you could hear the wind outside over the T.V. and this carried on all night.

When I woke up this morning the weather had not got any better in fact if it had got worse, the wind was getting stronger and faster and it was dropping colder. Fiona decided that the wind was getting to strong and so she cancelled the lessons, however I am going up on Monday and if the weather is okay she says that I can ride Vettie.
Vettie and I on one of our first lessons, my position is awful here and is loads better now.

Tomorrow I am off to see Jack and I can not wait. It will officially be only a month until he is back tomorrow and I'm buzzing it's going to be really good. I can't wait to see him tomorrow and just have one of our random chats that we have. We always have a good time even if it is in a visit room.

So on that note I will leave you with one of my favourite photographs of Jack and I. We had a really good day this day, we went on this mad ride in the middle of Derby that spun you round and round and went insanely high (higher than any of the buildings in Derby). It was my insane idea to go on it, I didn't mind going round at the top the first couple of times but after about 5-10 minutes I really hated it.

Friday, 9 January 2015
Hiya Everyone,

Well today has been a really really good day I absolutely loved my time at the stables. I got to my stables for 8am and was there up until 1.20pm, while it was a along morning, I really enjoyed it and I got to spend some quality time with Gatsby :D. What more could a girl ask for? I got there for 8 and started on mucking out, Fiona had already told me that she was going to be going out at 9 and I would be at the stables with Barry so could carry on doing work. I did Gatsby's stable, Soly's stable, sam's stable and Vettie's stable, and made sure that they had all got there hay nets filed, I also filled Percy's stable while Barry mucked him out. When Fiona got back she also offered me a job :D, so now instead of just helping out in the mornings, on a Wednesday I will be working there for two hours and getting paid for it, then in February time I might be working more than one morning a week. I am super excited and really can't wait :D I'm starting next week :D. I then carried on doing the jobs that needed doing, Fiona, Carolyn (not sure i spelt her name right) and I got all the horses in for the Farrier who had arrived. Then I gave Gatsby some loving and gave him a good groom as he was completely ditched. He'd obviously been rolling in the mud as it was just caked on to his face.

I'm so excited for the opportunities that are coming and what the future brings, I'm also getting there with getting my own horse as well. So exciting times are ahead. So on that note I will leave you with a picture of Gatsby.

My mud monster part way through being groomed. Love this horse to pieces :) he wasn't overly enthusiastic with having his face groomed, but he is now looking much better.

Learning my test

Wednesday, 7 January 2015
Hiya Everyone,

Well I'm just waiting for my homemade lasagne and Garlic Bread to cook that I made with my mum so I thought what better time than to write a post :). First of all I thought that I would let you know what Dressage Tests I am planning on doing in March. The first one is Intro B (I haven't seen this test yet, but I do know that it is a walk/trot test) and the second one is Prelim 14. My riding Teacher told me to learn this test this week so I thought what better way to do this than by writing it out here :), hope you guys don't mind but if you find it boring feel free to skip.

1) Enter at A in Walking Trot and proceed down the centre line. At C turn Left.
2) H to E working Trot, at E Circle Left 20 metres, E to K working trot.
3) Between K AND A transition to walk for 2-5 steps, then proceed to working trot.
4) FXH Change the rein in working trot.
5) Between H AND C transition to walk for 2-5 steps, then proceed to working trot.
6) B Circle right 20m give and retake the rein after E
7) Between F AND A working canter, KEH working canter.
8) C circle right 20m diameter, MBF working canter.
9) Between F and A working trot, between A and K Medium Walk.
10) KXM Change the rein in a free walk on a long rein. M medium walk.
11) Between M AND C working trot, HEK Working trot.
12) Between K AND A working canter to the left, A circle left 20m Diameter.
13) AFBM Working Canter.
14) Between M AND C working trot. HXF Change the rein in working trot.
15) A turn down the centre line. Between X AND G Halt, immobility, salute.
Then leave the arena in a free walk on the long rein where appropriate.

At the minute I am fairly certain that I can remember it, however until I try and ride it through on Saturday I am not going to be 100% sure whether I have got it remembered or not. It doesn't normally take me long to remember tests and I tend to read over it at least once a day. When I go to ride on Saturday I am going to ride as if it was competition day. I am going to warm up for about 15/20 minutes. Including bits of trot and canter work (But not huge amounts as I would not do big amounts on the day) and then ride through the test and see how it feels.

I am also looking at buying the full set of British Dressage Tests so that I have got them for in the future and I can learn them and get ready for and up coming tests.

The past couple of days I have been using the My Fitness Pal APP to track what food I am eating and making sure I stay with in my calorie limit, so far it is going really well and I have stayed under the amount of calories that I am allowed. I have also done a couple of minutes hula hooping (going to do some more later on tonight) I haven't got around to walking/running yet but I am going to get started on that tomorrow. I'm using the Endomondo app, that tracks walking, riding, cycling, running and other sports, and connects it straight to the My Fitness Pal app. If anyones got any tips on learning a test and riding at competitions feel free to leave me a comment.

A horse filled day

Monday, 5 January 2015
I'm feeling tired today it has been a long day and I haven't slept much last night so it is safe to say that I am pretty tired right about now so this blog post might not be very long. This morning I was at my stables, I got there for 9.30. I then mucked out Sam's, solys and Gatsby stable and little rocky's stable, I almost forgot that little man. I then helped fiona to fill all the hay nets so there is now two days worth of hay nets filled and bring the horses in and turn the two remaining horses out.

I then took my mum and dad to cosmo for lunch, and got my nails done :D. Before going back to my stables. Pony Club is now back on. So tonight we covered an important topic, the little kids wanted to go outside and run around so they did that and then the older ones stayed inside so two of us and Fiona and we discussed the steps you'd go through to buying your own horse. It was really interesting and I learnt a lot, I know that i am definitely going to be asking Fiona lots of questions this year. So we will have to wait and see what happens. It was then time to put the horses to bed, I put Gatsby and Soly to bed. I had Charlie helping me and had to show her the  kind of things we do as she has never been to pony club before. Over all it's been a really good but tiring day today.

serene sunday

Sunday, 4 January 2015
Today has been a quieter day, I hadn't slept very well friday night and then was awake at a reasonable time yesterday morning, then I had a really busy day so I knew that by the time I got in and went to bed I was going to go to sleep well. I ended up sleeping really well last night and then over slept this morning. I had no plans for today so I've just had a peaceful day.

I've spent time catching up on everyones blogs, which I have loved doing. I have read a book from start to finish, if your interested in what book you can find it on the books I've read page. I've also come up with new ideas from my uni work. One of the modules that I have to do is a professional work place module, for this we have to find a client and do a paid shoot, or we can make it up and do it as a general idea. I had originally thought about finding a hair dresser to photograph her work however my friend came up with a good idea and said that she thought I would find it really fun. Tattoos. I want to find a tattoo parlour that would like someone to photograph there work preferably as a commission but if I couldn't get paid to do it, I'd do it for free to get experience and then just develop the work module.

I also thought that I would show you all my hair :D, it's back pink again it has been for about 3 months can't believe I haven't shown you guys it yet!

First Ride of 2015

Saturday, 3 January 2015
Today was the first ride of the year and it was an eventful ride, it wasn't the best riding that we have ever done but it was good enough for me to know what I need to work on before my competition in march.

We started up warming up, Fiona said that I needed to figure out what the optimal warm up time for both Gatsby and I is, for us this is no more than 20 minutes, probably 10 minutes in walk/trot stretching,  followed by 5 minutes to completely stretch out at a walk and relax, then another 5 minutes starting to collect him and add a couple of little bits of canter in! I've got to remember that this is mine and Gatsby's first trip out together so we might not win but we can only do the best that we can do. Also that I am not to put myself under extra pressure just because this competition is at Broomfield, yes there are going to be people there that want to see what Gatsby is like now but I am not to let that bother me.
stretching and Gatsby doing his giraffe impression, stretching.

Starting to pick up the contact slowly, just look at how he's looking now and his muscles! Gorgeous boy!
After we had warmed up for about 25 minutes we realised that we were working at our peak moment, that was how we figured how long we needed to warm up for. We had some lovely canter work, it was really good. Our first canter transition went from the trot in to the canter in an outline, it felt amazing! However the problem was that we couldn't quite keep it together so we need to work more on this in the next couple of weeks, instead of having a jumping lesson on a monday we are building up the canter and keeping the canter going for as long as possible. This will be hard work but by March I want to be able to go around the school and do a circle three times before feeling tired.
Pretty pony! love how this horse moves, so glad to have been back on Gatsby and to have a good first ride of the year!
Head definitely needs to be slightly straighter he's just popping his nose to the left a little bit, we also need to get Gatsby in to a snaffle.
Canter, he has such an uphill canter, need to work more on that sodding lower leg though I will get there one day.
After we had talked about this and decided on this we moved on to practicing the dressage test, the test that we needed to look at was Prelim 14 but there is also Prelim 12. I'm not quite sure which test I am going to be doing yet but when I do know i'll let you all know. The test wasn't ridden to the best of our ability because by this point I was starting to get quite tired, I rode the whole test through once and then Fiona gave it me to copy so that I can learn it, to be able to ride it. The canter parts were okay, they were better during the second time cantering. Over all I am really pleased with the work that I have done and I know what I need to do to get better work in the future and how to get the best results on the day, lets be fair, this was only practice one we have three months of practice to go.

I adore this photograph, I don't know why it just feels like everything is slowly coming together, so happy with this horse and our work, we will get there one day, after all dreams do come true!
The Next thing that I have decided that I want to start doing is running, I need to improve my stamina which will help to improve my riding. So I've been looking on the internet and think that I want to do the Couch to 5k running challenge, I am not 100% sure how this will go asI'm not a natural runner, but I'll keep you guys up to date on that.
I do quite like this photograph too! Leg position looks a bit better but hands way too low, One day Gatsby and I will get there!
Just before we broke in to trot.

Savings Plan - The start of Getting my own horse.

Friday, 2 January 2015
So as you will all have seen on my new years eve post I have decided that this year will be the year that I finally get my own horse (or at least that is the plan anyway). So tonight I have sat down and figured out what money I get and when, and how much gets spent a week, so I thought why not put it on here for you guys to see.

I also went to the bank today and put £131.00 in to my ISA Bank Account, this way it is being saved up but growing on interest at the same time. So that is £131.00 towards my horse already and it is only the 2nd January.

So here's my plan, for the next £12 weeks I have got £118.00 to spend a week. I have to remember the things that I do need to spend my money on. So here's what I have to spend my money on.

Petrol - To fill my car up it costs between £40 and £50 so I've financed to spend between £160 - £200 a month on petrol.
Vanquis - Credit Card that I need to pay off - £30 a month.
HSBC Credit Card - £30 a month.
Phone Bill -£50 a month.
Monday Riding Lesson - £40

As there are three things on this list that are monthly and not weekly I have decided that I will pay these off one week at a time, e.g. one week i'll pay HSBC, the next, Phone Bill and then the 3rd Vanquis. By doing it this way it should leave me with 1 week a month where the only thing that I will have to buy is Petrol.

I plan to leave the money in my main account until the end of the week, then at the end of that week move whatever money I have left over from that weeks budget in my main account in to my ISA account, this should mean that there is something (Even if it is not a lot) going in to that bank account and never anything going out of that account.

Sorry if you guys find this post a bit boring it was more as a way for me to record my plans for this year to get my own horse. If you're interested in keeping an eye on my savings head over to my savings page :D.
