An Easter full of art ideas.

Sunday, 31 March 2013
Happy Easter Everyone!

Last night the clocks went forward so we lost an hour of sleep, I kept looking at my watch this morning (I wear it 24/7) and it told me it was earlier than it was, so I just kept going back to sleep and then remembered that the clocks had changed. When I got up I did a bit of reading and then my uncle and his partner were coming round to visit my nan so I sat with them for a while.

I know that I have got a lot of art work that I need to get done over the next two weeks (6 sheets), so I decided that I was going to do some today and I was going to start of with working on Idea's and then tomorrow I am going to do an artist study. Today I did 6 Ideas and then mounted them so that was one sheet down, the ideas were based around a silhouette of a person but inside the silhouette's sunsets and trees. I'll try and remember to post some picture of it tomorrow!

Now I'm curled up watching Grease on T.V. I've always loved this film, and mum couldn't find anything else to watch so we decided to watch it. Tomorrow I plan to do more art work as I am not going to be back at the stables until Wednesday, I also plan to do a practice essay for my English Lit Class. On Tuesday I am going out for the day with some friends but I really can't wait until Wednesday because I'm going to be going up to West Hallam to help Fiona out.

Gatsby Day

Saturday, 30 March 2013
Today I had a really good lesson on Gatsby, when I got there he was in his stable, so I bought him out and tied him up outside his stable, so that while I was grooming him Elaine could start to put some more shavings in his stable. The minute that we went outside and tied him up it started to snow, and the flakes kept getting bigger and bigger. I just kept grooming him and making sure that under his tummy more than anything else was clear, because that's the part that if I'm going to miss by accident I am the mostly like to. He doesn't like having it done but when told 'no' after an attempt to bite me he just pinned his ears at me and that was that. But he was really good cause after mum said 'no' he didn't try to again. Now that he's had the person out to have his back done he wasn't as cranky as he was when I tried to do his girth up which made me feel better!

When I got on he was raring to go so I decided to let him walk and while he was walking I took my feet out of my stirrups and sorted the length out as they were a bit to long for me (I have quite short legs) while we were moving. He was really good and had a nice active free walk, which made it a lot easier to move my hips with him. After warming up we moved on to doing some trot work and when he was working in an outline we decided that we were doing to do some trotting poles with him we only went over them a couple of times, but it got him to pick his feet up more as you will see in the pictures that I'll put at the end of this post. Then we moved on to the canter work, the transitions were so good! They were smooth unrushed and careful, he was really trying his hardest to do as he was asked today. He does get a bit head strong at times but when he does this I just gave him a firmer half halt and that really really helped! As we went on the canter became more smooth, relaxed and calm, like he wasn't rushing. I was really excited when on the first time asking for a canter I half-halted him and he was starting to drop into a really nice outline! But then he started to over think things and broke in to the trot. We finished on a good note with a smoother more collected and calmer canter as this was the most important thing! You could really feel him working today, Fiona has now set me a new goal of getting Gatsby to canter in an outline fully, this could become quite interesting.

My riding school is now an official pony club centre, so I should be starting Pony Club soon, I can't wait to do this as I know I'm going to learn so much. On Wednesday I am going to go and help at the stables and a week on Friday I have an own a pony day.

Here's some pictures!

Babysitting My Nephew

Friday, 29 March 2013
Well today has been a long day because I didn't get much sleep last night, but this morning I woke up to go and help my mum do the food shopping, and with it being Easter it was like going to a football match inside the supermarket! Normally when we pay it takes 5ish minutes to be able to start putting the food on the rail this time it took 15-20 minutes. Then when we got back, I played on a game on facebook and went out to do some jobs with my mum, including washing the car.

This evening I am babysitting for my nephew and am then going to be stopping for the night, as it was my sisters birthday yesterday, her boyfriend asked if I would babysit so that he could take her out for a meal. So they picked me up at five and then this evening when we got back we played some games, and ate pizza, lots of pizza, as well as breadsticks and celebrations! We took some photos and he decided that he liked my laptops webcam and thought it was funny trying to figure out how he was on the camera. I loved it, we played with the ball and played with the toy cars. He even tried cuddling up with Milly the cat.

After this it was time to change his nappy, so I thought to make the job easier I would change his nappy and put his baby onesie on at the same time so that he was ready for bed. He then let me know that he was tired by pointing to the book that I was going to be reading him and sitting on top of his sleep bag, so I put him in his sleep bag and read a book and with in minutes he was fast asleep on my knee, I waited until I knew he was fully asleep and then put him in to his bed. Now I'm sitting downstairs catching up on reading blogs and watching Coronation Street, then I'm going to start reading a new book that I got today.

Tomorrow I get to ride Gatsby, it's been two weeks since I road him last because of the snow, but the snow seems to be staying away (although on the way to babysitting it did try to snow). So hopefully I'll be able to get on tomorrow and carry on with the exercise that I did two weeks ago.

I'll leave you with some pictures of my Baby nephew.

Cuddles with my baby nephew,
Brody likes pointing at the camera so we decided that we would both point at the camera.
Brody trying to force feed me pizza, he likes to share!
Sleepy boy all curled up in bed. He's still fast asleep, he likes so sweet and happy.

My Sisters Birthday!

Thursday, 28 March 2013
Today was my big sisters birthday, so it meant that she came over for tea in the evening, this also meant that I got to see my favourite little fella in the entire world! I Love my little nephew, I say little but he is growing really quickly at the moment.

This morning I didn't have an art lesson, so washed my hair and dried it but left the majority of it looking natural, I planned to straighten it later (but I never got round to it), then I went in for textiles and English. Now for some reason I thought my laptop was fully charged so wasn't too happy to walk in to Textiles and turn my laptop on to find that it was on reserve power, so I couldn't do the work that I planned to do but then in English I got loads done. We finished the book that we have been working on and now are going to go over the historical context, as I have two weeks off for easter I have an essay to do as well as some other sheets.

This evening my sister came over, we had tea and a catch up. She found it really hard to see my nan the way that she is at the moment, especially the fact that nan keeps crying for no reason at the moment. We gave her the presents, I got her a hollow wooden Statue of a teddy bear that fits in with some of the other statues that she has got. My brother got her a pot of flowers and my mum got her this cooking set that had chilli in and all sorts of spicy things that she likes. My sister also bought me a magazine to show me a new hair dye colour that is out that I'm going to use it was a raspberry colour, so when I dye my hair for my sixth form ball it will be purple and bright pink.

The future holds good things.. I think!

Wednesday, 27 March 2013
Today has been along day and my art teacher didn't put me in a good mood! This morning my mum and I went to her physiotherapist appointment which was in Nottingham so it included an hour long journey there and then the same back. This afternoon I went in to school and had English we have almost finished off the book that we are reading, then I had art, for two months I've been working on a project and he decides today that he doesn't like what I'm doing for my work, so I have to entirely change the direction that my theme is going in to get the grade that I want to get. Which is pretty annoying.

This afternoon I also spent some time looking at insurance prices for a Mini as a Learner driver as well as holding a full licence and found an insurance company that isn't overly expensive for me as a Learner driver and I can continue using as a full licence holder, soo that's pretty exciting stuff.

Most of you will know that I went to centre parks well I am going again this year but I am going to be going on my Birthday, I'll be going with the same people but only for the weekend as it's during term time and the same week as I'll be having an art exam. The funny thing is my mates Dad's birthday is on the same day, so it will be fun.

Product Review - Riders Diary Standard

UPDATE!! I bought this product from Pony Print this is a UK company but I know that you can also buy them in America, here's also a link to their UK facebook page and Australia facebook page I do also know that you can buy them in America.

I decided after someone asking for pictures of my rider's Diary to do a product review on the riders diary, this will include pictures of all the different sections and pages that come in it so there are going to be quite a few pictures. The folder holds A5 pages and this is something that I think is good it's not too big for me it's just the right size.

So on to picture one this shows the front of the folder, I love how theres a picture of horse and the fact that it's in black and white as I have always had a thing about black and white photographs! For me I also like how the bit that says riders Diary stands out with the red/Burgundy folder.

When you open the folder up inside you then get a white page that says riders diary on it and then you turn the page and this is where you put all your personal details you put your address, name and all this type of thing there is also a space for you to put your 'horse friends' details, phone number and Name. I really like this, and then on the back of that page you put information about the riding schools/place that you board your horse's details. You put the phone number and the address. Below you can see the horse stables information as I've already filled in the my details page so I've decided not to put that on the internet!

As you can see in the above picture the folder comes with divider things in it, I LOVE these I think they are great touch this first one is the horse details section here you can put information about three horses that you own/ride. You can also put information about the Tack that you have, the clothes that you have and also any rugs and things like that that your horses has.

This is the second divider and marks the start of where you put any information to do with the horses health. Here you put details about when the farrier comes out to do your horses hooves, you put the name of the horse, the date, the name of the farrier, how much it cost, what treatment was needed and any comments. Then there is a bit where you put about the horses diet here you put the horses name, the hard feed they have in the AM/PM, how much hay they have in the AM/PM. If they have any supplements and comments. Vet Records - here you put the name of your vet, the date, the cost, the treatment, the medication and any comments that you have. There is a bit for worming you put the date, cost, product used and any comments and finally a bit for the teeth you are able to put the date, cost, dentist used, and any comments. This is all in the second divider section.

The third divider section is probably the one that I find the most useful at the minute and is for training/lessons. There are only two parts to this section the first one is for the 'horses training' here you put what horse you rode and the date, you put the goal that you want to achieve by the end of riding the horse that day and then you put any comments you have. The second part is all to do with you as a rider and is called 'Rider's instructions'. I use this part to put about any thoughts I have as things as a rider that I need to work on and how I plan on working on them in the next lesson.

The fourth section is four competitions this is a section that I am hoping to be able to use more one day, especially with the fact that I am hopefully going to be doing competitions with Gatsby through doing Pony Club. Because I bought the standard riders diary in each section I have an area that I can put on each discipline the first is dressage, you can put your score, the date, where it was held, who judged and also about the arena surfacing. There is then combined training here you can put pretty much the same as the dressage but you can also put it for show jumping. Then there is a jumping section here you put a lot more information you put the max and minimum height that you jumped, time penalties if you get them, number of obstacles, the weather conditions, jump off and jump penalties as well as overall penalties. There are then horse trials, here you put information about the dressage, show jumping and cross country phases. The final section is showing, here you put the class you entered the judges and where you were placed.
The next divider section is Diary/photo's the first section is just lines that can write on about whatever you think you should do. Then there is a special achievement section, you can put a photo, the date, what you achieved and comments. There is then another section for you to just put photographs and finally a calendar of the year that you can write on and you put important dates on.

The second to last section is called 'other' and I decided to use this for pony club, the pony club section did NOT come with the standard diary so it was an extra that I bought but it didn't cost that much. Here you put what horse you use and the pony club activities that you do in the morning and afternoon. I can't wait to start using it!

The last section is for Breeding I don't have anything in this section as it doesn't come with the standard diary and it is something that I'm not involved in so I don't need it at this moment in time! But who knows what may happen in the future.

One Part down just two more to go.

Monday, 25 March 2013
This morning I had my first step towards not being a learner driver anymore, I had my theory test and was really nervous about it so that's one of the reasons that I didn't feel like writing long posts but I'm back and guess what? I PASSED MY THEORY TEST!!! I was really nervous about it this morning and because of this I didn't feel like being chatty to anyone and was in a really grumpy mood which I always end up doing when I feel nervous. I was so relieved to see that the questions that came up on the exam where questions that I had been practicing for the last few weeks and I was buzzing! Now all I need to do is pass my practical test (my theory test pass lasts for two years) and get myself a Mini, so that I can get places.

Then this evening as a way to kind of celebrate I decided that I was going Bowling with some mates, it was great I loved it! We all had a laugh my best mate Evie took me and bought me back and I was dead happy with my bowling results as it has been AGES since I went bowling, I won one of the games and then came second in the second game losing by only to points, spencer came 2nd when I came first and I came 2nd when he was first so we were pretty happy with the results that I got.

Now I'm curled up chilling out, about to do some reading before I hopefully get a good nights sleep, as I didn't get one last night! I'm hoping that I get to ride this weekend but there is more snow forecast for the end of this week! Seriously it's MARCH and it's snowing I'm sure it's supposed to be spring already! Tomorrow I have school but I am feeling rough so I'm going to go in for at leas the morning so that I am in for Art and English, then I might come home at 2:00 because I have a free and then textiles and I am ahead in all my textiles work so it would be more effective for me to go in first thing and then just come home a little earlier.

Photography Projects.

Sunday, 24 March 2013
So yesterday I told you all that I had been working on a project with mount board for my photography and now I'm going to tell you all what the project was and share some fun snow pictures that I have got, I love how snow looks, just don't like how it interferes with things!

The project that I was doing was mounting and framing some photographs using three different colours of mount board. The colours had to fit in with my room, purple, peach, beige and brown (although one day I want to paint my walls chocolate brown and hot pink), so the colours my mum chose (she did it as a suprise) where beige, chocolate brown and gold! I then wanted to double mount them so that It had effectively two windows, the first that showed my picture and the second that showed a thin amount of gold! I'm really happy with how they've turned out, and if you want to know more about how I did them please ask.

These pictures were picked strategically the one above was the last time I jumped Gatsby it was also the last time that I rode at Broomfield with Gatsby.

This is the second picture in my series of three this was the first time that I ever rode with Fiona and also the first time that I got Gatsby in an outline.
This picture is a more recent photograph it shows the first lesson where I got Gatsby in an outline for the majority of the time. So there is a reason why each photograph has been chosen!

This is my horsey wall, it shows my '5th' Place Rosette at my first ever dressage competition and the photograph that was from it! It also shows my purple 'clear round' rosette this was one from a jumping lesson I had at broomfield, I rode Tobias and we got an all clear (Tobias is the same horse as in the show photograph). And the Empty Gap is where future photographs will go but also any rosettes/badges/ribbons that I might get in the future.

Now onto some of my own photographs with wanting to do a photography course and also wanting to run my own photography business I decided that I was going to do some extra photography, these photographs have had no editing done and have been chosen just because I like them.

This photograph was taken of a really cute house, it looks like a bungalow but is on the side of a hill so instead of entering the house in the downstairs you enter upstairs and then go down stairs once in the house (sounds odd and is really hard to describe).
This one I just liked because you could see the 'spring' flowers that are coming in but you can see the snow that we are getting at this time of the year.

The view from my Nan's room, my nan loves looking at the snow so this was another reason that I took photographs of the snow! This was taken looking out my Nan's bedroom window, I think that it looks really pretty with a blanket of white!

This Photograph I just LOVE it was taken from inside through a window so that's why you can see the lines of reflection but I think even with the lines it still looks really effective!

Icicle that was hanging from outside one of the windows. Love how this looks and the fact that the icicle is in focus but the background is really blurred.
