Today has been an amazing day, filled with lots of gorgeous horses and loads of laughs. For the past week I've been keeping you all in suspense about what I'd be doing today. I'll tell you now but tomorrow I'll go in to it more.

Today I was the writer for a judge (my riding teacher) at the interregional British Dressage Under 25's.

A good canter schooling session today

Saturday, 29 June 2013
There were no light bulb moments this week, but we did some nice canter work. I spent half an hour brushing him and giving him some love and attention at one point I thought that he was going to fall asleep on me. I'd found an area near his nose/muzzle that he enjoyed having scratched and he just started nodding off it was soo nice!

I tacked him up and got on him. I knew what I wanted to accomplish that day and that was doing more working cantering and a small amount of work with out stirrups. After I had warmed Gatsby up I took away my stirrups and we kept in walk. We did lots of transitions and asking him to soften. Then at one point he decided that he was going to start backing up on me and not listen to my leg when I asked him to move my forward. After this incident I got my stirrups back and continued asking him to soften. For some reason this week I just couldn't quite get it right, we soon realised that I was asking for way to much bend! He was pushing his head to the left so I swapped my crop in to the other hand and he immediately softened down all I needed to do was switch which side my crop on and that was it! I couldn't believe it. I also realised that on one rein I push my left shoulder forwards and on the other rein I close my hip. When we moved on to canter, we only did a small amount of canter as it was at the end of the lesson but I got a light bulb moment when I was able to rock my hips with his canter movement and because of this he bought his hind end under him, it was amazing! When we'd finished we cooled him down and I just couldn't believe how nice the canter felt.

Tomorrow I have to be up at 6am I could tell you why but then this wouldn't be a cliff hanger!

day out

Friday, 28 June 2013
Todays been a good but tiring long day, last night I didn't go to sleep until going on Midnight again, it seems to me that my body clock is messed up again! I woke up and had just enough time to get dressed and get out of the car to go out with Dean and Sue. The weather was rubbish, it was cold, wet and raining, it's June and the weather feels like it is the middle of winter. We had KFC for lunch and then went to Edale again which is a lovely dale in the middle of no-where it's dead peaceful and quiet but in wet weather it has a really eery feeling to it. We stayed there for a while just watching the animals and seeing what the animals did, it was lovely but would have been better like the first time we went were it was red hot and sunny. It was a really good day out we just spent some time chilling and talking.

This evening I then went to the youth group that I go to, there wasn't many people there and it was really quiet but it was nice and calm which makes a change to what it was normally like. Now that I have got in I've curled up in bed with Eastenders on it is already 11pm at night and I am still wide awake, but hopefully I will get some sleep.

Blackpool post - pictures included

Thursday, 27 June 2013
This morning I got a lie in after my early morning and late night yesterday. The journey to Blackpool was longer than I thought that it was going to be, I thought I'd be able to fall asleep on the way there but there was no such luck!

When we got there we had a look in the hotel that Hannah (my brother's Girlfriend) was staying at, it was nice and small and a had a great view of the sea it was lovely. When we'd had a look we started making the walk to the other end of the promenade towards were the fairs were and Pleasure Beach. We got up to the Blackpool Tower, originally I said that I wasn't going to go all the way to the top because I'm one of those people that just do not like heights. However I did go to the top and I'm glad I did as the view was lovely, it was all enclosed so it didn't bother me too much, except at one point where there was a glass floor that you could stand on my mum and I didn't like the look of it but my brother did and so did Hannah. They then went three floors higher to go right to the top of the tower my mum and I didn't do that part as that was outside.

View from the top of the Blackpool tower, it amazed me the quality of photos that you could get from so high up!
Another view from the top of the Blackpool tower, See that Rollercoaster at the centre of the photo. It's the largest in Europe but more of that to come later.
Mum at the top of the Blackpool tower.
Me at the top of the blackpool tower.
After we had gone to the top of the Blackpool tower, we started walking along the promenade again it was a nice day the sun was shining but it was deceiving how hot it was because of the off shore breeze that was developing. We walked for what must have been 1 or 2 miles, it was tiring and I could feel that my hip was starting to work but it was fun as well and I burnt off plenty of calories along the way, which made plenty of room for the Pizza Hut lunch buffet that we were going to have. We got so far along and I saw donkeys on the beach, I really wanted to go on one but they were to small, when mum said this my comment to her was 'I wish I was a kid again just so that I could ride Donkeys on the beach!' I know so mature of me, but hey what can I say I just love riding, it's a horsey life for me!

When we got so far we could see that the pleasure Beach was still ages and ages away. Now I love walking but with my hip how it was and my mum's back we decided that it would be better to get the Tram the rest of the way and it is a god job that we did because the pleasure beach was miles away! It would have taken us forever to get there and we would be aching by the time that we did get there. When we got to the pleasure beach we could see how big the roller coaster was. The queue wasn't to long so you didn't have time to think about how big a drop was coming. The roller coaster had a 200ft drop, reached speeds of up to 85mph and had winds of up to gail force 4! It's the biggest rollercoaster in Europe and it is amazing! I wanted to go on it again and again! I didn't because I knew with my stomach once was enough. When we had finished at the park we then went to Pizza Hut for lunch which was really nice, as it is something I haven't had in ages! I loved ever single bit of it!

Donkeys! I want to go on them! Being older sucks!

Part of the roller coaster that I went on.
When we had finished at Pizza hut me and mum went to do something and give Hannah and Dom some time together just the two of them as she will not be back for another week. So while they went on more rides my mum and I went for a ride on the horse and carts they had got! There was loads of them and I loved it, it felt dead nice riding along next to the beach in a horse and cart. When we'd finished the ride we then just sat at the beach waiting til Dom and Hannah came back and had finished going on all of the rides. We then got a tram back to the hotel and sat talking, Mark (Hannah's dad was included in the conversation and so was the Wales Manager). It was really nice and time seemed to fly by! I had never met Mark before and didn't know what to expect but he seemed an alright person. The five of us (mum, Dom, Hannah, Mark and I) then went out for a Chinese meal that was really nice! I had sweet and sour chicken that tasted great. The conversation kept flowing through the evening until we had finished the meal. We then walked back towards the hotel and my mum, Dom and I started driving back. We didn't get in until 10pm last night but it was worth it because we had a really good day I didn't manage to get to sleep in the car on the way home either so it turned out to be quite a tiring and long day but it was all good fun.

Horse and carts queuing up outside the aquarium at Blackpool they all looked so cute and seemed to make a fair bit of money over the course of the day. I was surprised to see that many horse and carts!
The grey horse that pulled the cart that me and my mum went for a ride on. It amazed me how calm the horses were, they just seemed to take whatever was thrown at them in the strides, especially the traffic!
And again! I really like this photo not sure what it is about it that I like but there's something.
I also really like this photo too but it would have been better if the car was not in the way, it kind of spoils the picture a bit. I also like how shiny and well looked after the horses appeared to be. When they were standing waiting to do their  work they all had rugs on.
For those of you that have been following my blog for a while you will know that I love sunsets and being able to photograph them. This Photograph is my favourite of the day but doesn't do the sunset justice it was so bright and had so many vivid colours in it! But to get all the colours I would have needed a filter and that's something that I didn't have but is on my wish list.
This photo shows the colours a bit better but still not as well as it did if you'd been there in real life it was stunning! It was the perfect end to the perfect day!

200ft drop and just a small cliff hanger!

Wednesday, 26 June 2013
Tonight's post is only quick as I have been awake since about 6:30am this morning and we have only just got him. We left nice and early for my brother to be able to see his girlfriend who is away at the world champion pool or snooker tournaments! Not sure which because it does not make a lot of sense to me, but she was in blackpool so we made the two and a half hour trip there and back. We had a really good day and I got loads of photographs! I also got to go in a horse and cart along the beach front that was amazing and it felt so nice and cooled us down because it was hot weather. I also went on the biggest roller coaster in Europe that has a 200ft drop.

Tomorrow there will be a more detailed description of what we did and also lots of pictures!

A fab ride on Gatsby

Tuesday, 25 June 2013
Today has been another good but long day, I still didn't sleep well but I've been busy all day today so I am hoping that I will sleep better (although I do have an early start tomorrow). This morning I woke up and just watched tv and did some reading as I hadn't got any plans for the morning.

This afternoon was busy but fun. I had my first driving lesson with my new driving teacher and it went really well! He asked me what I knew how to do and I told him the things that I knew. We then started driving and he said that he wanted to do assess my driving. We had been driving for a little while and he said that what we were doing was too easy for me so we moved on to doing hill starts and things like that. It went really well, and he said that I can do my test soon, and I should only need 10 lessons. Then I can drive by myself and tomorrow I will be hearing more about how my car is doing, hopefully I will get it back towards the end of the week!

After this I went up for my ride on Gatsby it was great, I loved it. I spent a while grooming him and making him all shiny. The main thing that I wanted to work on was maintaining an outline in walk, and while doing transitions. I started off warming up and getting him to stretch and he was being annoyed by the flies so Elaine put some fly gel stuff in his ears and after that we could really do some work. When I picked up the contact he went in to a nice outline, he was soft and I felt like I had just got the elastic contact. When we moved on to the trot it was nice but a little bit lazy so we did lots of transitions, to get him thinking and more active. I then asked him to lengthen his stride and I think that I lifted my hands a little but to much because he moved into canter and he cantered in an outline! I couldn't believe it, it was only a few strides but it was there and that was the best part! I asked him to canter a few more times but we couldn't get the canter outline again! I then spent a few more times trotting. I then put him on a long rein and walked him around a few more times to cool down. He felt really good and I loved this. When I got off him I then gave him a quick brush over where his saddle and girth were as he had got quite sweaty. I also used a face brush to go over where his bridle was.

This evening I went to a BBQ that was run by my youth group. It was good but there wasn't that many people there that I knew so I didn't stay to late. Tomorrow I have an early start as at 7 we are leaving to go to Blackpool.

I PASSED THE FIRST PART OF MY BRONZE AWARD. and a little bit of suspense

Monday, 24 June 2013
Well today was my pony club evening and the week that we did the first part of the bronze award ( for those of you that do not know there are three parts). I was really excited but at the same time I was really nervous. I didn't know why I was nervous because it was all things that I am able to do my sleep. But we will come back to that later.

I woke up this morning really early for me considering I'm on holidays for three months now! I watched Jeremy Kyle and just spent some time chilling I spent some time reading everyone's blogs and then curled up and watched some of the soaps that I enjoy that I had missed last week. It got to mid afternoon and I decided that I wanted something from Burger King,      I also offered to buy my brother some burger king to, as he'd spent all day in his room and I just thought it would be something nice to do. When we got home my dad was in from work so we took Angel for a quick walk up the hill and back, the heels quite steep so it gets your heart working fast!

I then went to Pony Club, the things that we did were simple things like untie and tie the lead rope, take the head collar off the horse and put it back on, we then had to name the colours of the horses, we only had to do the simple names e.g. bright bay, dappled or flea bitten grey, we went round the horses on the yard saying what each horse was. I even remembered that Rosie is a Chestnut with a flaxen mane and tale, I don't know why I remember this but I always do. Odd! We then had to answer a few road safety questions e.g. which side of the road do you ride on, if your younger why is it best to always have an adult with you, things like that. We then got to spend some time grooming and have a break so Gatsby got lots of fuss and attention. The smaller kids went first and then the older ones second, so while the younger kids went, we mucked out Gatsby's stable. Then came the riding part of the test, for this you had to be able to check the girth and pull the stirrups done, make sure that they are the right length. Get on receiving a leg up (this was the thing that I struggled with the most but we had a laugh), walk in a straight line, stop, all in walk! It was easy but enjoyable, all though my stirrups were definitely too long!  I passed the first part of my bronze award and we took a group picture of everyone with their certificates standing by Big Rocky, I'm hoping to get a copy of that Photo soon too! Then when everyone had gone I was waiting to talk to Fiona so Elaine asked if I would mind helping her take Gatsby and Rascal out to their field! So of course I said yes ;)

Tomorrow I'm getting a ride on Gatsby and having the first lesson with my new driving teacher. Wednesday I'm going to Blackpool with my mum and brother. Thursday I plan on sleeping.... a LOT! Friday I've got a day out with Dean and Sue. Saturday will be my weekly lesson and I have plans for Sunday but for now they're a surprise for you guys.

Now for the writing part.

Today was the derbyshire county show, a show that I've been going to for the last five years (only to watch, maybe one day to compete) the first three years the weather was that hot that I burnt. The last two years all it has done is rain! While I still enjoy going I don't enjoy the weather that we seem to be getting all of the time.

Mum and I left the house at 8:00 this morning, I'd been so excited the night before that I hadn't slept well the night before, I kept waking up thinking that it was the morning and then realising that it wasn't the morning. This year we didn't have to Que. to long before we were able to get parked. In years before we have been queuing for what has seemed to be hours, more like 30 minutes, but still it felt like forever.

When we got there we headed to the show jumping ring, I always love watching this, and I got to spend some time doing some photograph work, I love how the horses look going over the jumps and how excited some seem to be to do their jobs. Others did not seem to happy with the weather conditions but who can blame them? Not me! We then moved on to looking a some in hand work, I don't know what it is about in hand work but I love how it looks and the idea of being able to do it one day in the future, it might never happen but I can dream big. It was really cute though because they had got loads of little foals running along next to their mums (as you'll see in my previous post). When we had done this we hit all the stalls. When we had left at the start of the day I said that I was not going to buy anything but I did. I bought a pink Rydale cashmere jumper that I love. It's really soft and it's really warm which is surprising because it doesn't look that warm.

When we'd had something to eat we moved on to looking at the hunters, I also got to do some more photographing here (you can also see these on the post before). When we had sat there for a while we moved on to looking at the shire horses. While they aren't the most glamourous horse in the world there is something that I like about them and I loved all the baby shire horses that we saw too. They were so cute and looked so fluffy I loved them! When we'd done here the last thing that we looked at was a stunt show, this year instead of horses it was motor bikes though. It was increasingly more dangerous because we were in the middle of a heavy rain downfall, and the winds were picking up. They started out with just a quad bike, that went on to only its two side wheels, then a wheelie, then it did a doughnut and the amount of dirt that it picked up was insane, there was just grass flying everywhere. They then moved on to a bike and a quad bike riding up a ramp and jumping over a big gap onto a lorry, and then down a ramp on the other side. It was amazing! They made it look so easy, then they started doing tricks in the air, like not holding the handle bars, kicking their legs up behind them, coming out of the seat, putting their legs over the handle bars and back all before landing. It was amazing to watch and something that did fascinate me, however I still prefer the Rocking Horse Stunt Show that has been there since the first year that we started going to the county show. They were the highlight of the show for me and it didn't seem right not seeing them there.

Best outline work ever!

Saturday, 22 June 2013
Today was a good day with Gatsby, it was my weekly lesson and I was buzzing for it as I'd not had any horse time since pony club because of being ill. When I got there he was being used for a lesson so I got to see someone else ride him which I found quite useful. When I got on him he was already armed up but I still spent some time getting him to stretch out and getting his walk to swing.

When I picked him up I was getting bits of outline but nothing amazing, but then I had a light bulb moment when we moved on up in to the trot. We'd been doing lots of transitions and working on our rising trot, and I just felt like doing some sitting trot before I moved on to doing any canter work. When I was sitting I was making sure to really move my hips with him and the minute I did this his head dropped down in to an outline, his hind end came under him and it was all more balanced it felt AMAZING! I only had to slightly half halt to keep him in it but I hardly had to move to get him into it! The other great thing was that when I was doing my canter and trot work my leg was staying in place! It wasn't swinging all over the place it was staying where it was supposed to. For ages I've worked on getting this right and it's finally starting to work which was really exciting for me, I was buzzing, I felt like a little kid on their birthday!

Then we moved on to doing some canter and I was trying to maintain my canter in an outline! This is something I've accidentally done before but I have never done it on purpose. We got a few strides where he was cantering in the outline, but not fully, however he was staying more collected and not running away with me which was good. At the end Fiona put a jump up for me again and it went well again. We continued with approaching the jump in trot making sure that I was still in control and feeling secure. He was great towards the end we knocked the pole down because I was starting to feel pretty tired but other than that it was great. I managed to maintain my jump position and the best thing for me was that I could keep my head up and looked forward. Fiona did something that I found really helpful she stood at the end of the school in line with the jump and put her hand up, she'd then hold up her fingers and I had to tell her how many she was holding up while I was jumping and I found that this was a great way to keep my head up. I loved it and I felt great I feel that with each week I tackle something different and feel more confident with the things that I am doing! It was such a great feeling.

Here are some pictures for my lesson.

Yeah I'll just put my head here and stand like this, he was in the middle of stretching though!

Don't know what I like about this photo but there is something that I like!

Also really like this one, like how it shows me looking ahead, and focusing on what I was doing! Leg needs to be further forwards though!

I love this picture, My positions not great but after only three lessons of jumping in a year I am happy with it, I love how one of Gatsby's ears are cocked listenind to me too and the other ones focusing on what he is doing.
