BYRDS

Today has been an amazing day, filled with lots of gorgeous horses and loads of laughs. For the past week I've been keeping you all in suspense about what I'd be doing today. I'll tell you now but tomorrow I'll go in to it more.  Today I was the writer for a judge (my riding teacher) at the interregional British Dressage Under 25's.  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

A good canter schooling session today

There were no light bulb moments this week, but we did some nice canter work. I spent half an hour brushing him and giving him some love and attention at one point I thought that he was going to fall asleep on me. I'd found an area near his nose/muzzle that he enjoyed having scratched and he just started nodding off it was soo nice!  I tacked him up and got on him. I knew what I wanted to accomplish that day and that was doing more working cantering and a small amount of work with out stirrups. After I had warmed Gatsby up I took away my stirrups and we kept in walk. We did lots of transitions and asking him to soften. Then at one point he decided that he was going to start backing up on me and not listen to my leg when I asked him to move my forward. After this incident I got my stirrups back and continued asking him to soften. For some reason this week I just couldn't quite get it right, we soon realised that I was asking for way to much bend! He was pushing his head to

day out

Todays been a good but tiring long day, last night I didn't go to sleep until going on Midnight again, it seems to me that my body clock is messed up again! I woke up and had just enough time to get dressed and get out of the car to go out with Dean and Sue. The weather was rubbish, it was cold, wet and raining, it's June and the weather feels like it is the middle of winter. We had KFC for lunch and then went to Edale again which is a lovely dale in the middle of no-where it's dead peaceful and quiet but in wet weather it has a really eery feeling to it. We stayed there for a while just watching the animals and seeing what the animals did, it was lovely but would have been better like the first time we went were it was red hot and sunny. It was a really good day out we just spent some time chilling and talking.  This evening I then went to the youth group that I go to, there wasn't many people there and it was really quiet but it was nice and calm which makes a ch

Blackpool post - pictures included

This morning I got a lie in after my early morning and late night yesterday. The journey to Blackpool was longer than I thought that it was going to be, I thought I'd be able to fall asleep on the way there but there was no such luck!  When we got there we had a look in the hotel that Hannah (my brother's Girlfriend) was staying at, it was nice and small and a had a great view of the sea it was lovely. When we'd had a look we started making the walk to the other end of the promenade towards were the fairs were and Pleasure Beach. We got up to the Blackpool Tower, originally I said that I wasn't going to go all the way to the top because I'm one of those people that just do not like heights. However I did go to the top and I'm glad I did as the view was lovely, it was all enclosed so it didn't bother me too much, except at one point where there was a glass floor that you could stand on my mum and I didn't like the look of it but my brother did and so

200ft drop and just a small cliff hanger!

Tonight's post is only quick as I have been awake since about 6:30am this morning and we have only just got him. We left nice and early for my brother to be able to see his girlfriend who is away at the world champion pool or snooker tournaments! Not sure which because it does not make a lot of sense to me, but she was in blackpool so we made the two and a half hour trip there and back. We had a really good day and I got loads of photographs! I also got to go in a horse and cart along the beach front that was amazing and it felt so nice and cooled us down because it was hot weather. I also went on the biggest roller coaster in Europe that has a 200ft drop.  Tomorrow there will be a more detailed description of what we did and also lots of pictures!  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

A fab ride on Gatsby

Today has been another good but long day, I still didn't sleep well but I've been busy all day today so I am hoping that I will sleep better (although I do have an early start tomorrow). This morning I woke up and just watched tv and did some reading as I hadn't got any plans for the morning.  This afternoon was busy but fun. I had my first driving lesson with my new driving teacher and it went really well! He asked me what I knew how to do and I told him the things that I knew. We then started driving and he said that he wanted to do assess my driving. We had been driving for a little while and he said that what we were doing was too easy for me so we moved on to doing hill starts and things like that. It went really well, and he said that I can do my test soon, and I should only need 10 lessons. Then I can drive by myself and tomorrow I will be hearing more about how my car is doing, hopefully I will get it back towards the end of the week!  After this I went up

I PASSED THE FIRST PART OF MY BRONZE AWARD. and a little bit of suspense

Well today was my pony club evening and the week that we did the first part of the bronze award ( for those of you that do not know there are three parts). I was really excited but at the same time I was really nervous. I didn't know why I was nervous because it was all things that I am able to do my sleep. But we will come back to that later.  I woke up this morning really early for me considering I'm on holidays for three months now! I watched Jeremy Kyle and just spent some time chilling I spent some time reading everyone's blogs and then curled up and watched some of the soaps that I enjoy that I had missed last week. It got to mid afternoon and I decided that I wanted something from Burger King,      I also offered to buy my brother some burger king to, as he'd spent all day in his room and I just thought it would be something nice to do. When we got home my dad was in from work so we took Angel for a quick walk up the hill and back, the heels quite steep so i

But Until Then A Girl With A Dream

Now for the writing part.

Today was the derbyshire county show, a show that I've been going to for the last five years (only to watch, maybe one day to compete) the first three years the weather was that hot that I burnt. The last two years all it has done is rain! While I still enjoy going I don't enjoy the weather that we seem to be getting all of the time.  Mum and I left the house at 8:00 this morning, I'd been so excited the night before that I hadn't slept well the night before, I kept waking up thinking that it was the morning and then realising that it wasn't the morning. This year we didn't have to Que. to long before we were able to get parked. In years before we have been queuing for what has seemed to be hours, more like 30 minutes, but still it felt like forever.  When we got there we headed to the show jumping ring, I always love watching this, and I got to spend some time doing some photograph work, I love how the horses look going over the jumps and how excited s

Best outline work ever!

Today was a good day with Gatsby, it was my weekly lesson and I was buzzing for it as I'd not had any horse time since pony club because of being ill. When I got there he was being used for a lesson so I got to see someone else ride him which I found quite useful. When I got on him he was already armed up but I still spent some time getting him to stretch out and getting his walk to swing.  When I picked him up I was getting bits of outline but nothing amazing, but then I had a light bulb moment when we moved on up in to the trot. We'd been doing lots of transitions and working on our rising trot, and I just felt like doing some sitting trot before I moved on to doing any canter work. When I was sitting I was making sure to really move my hips with him and the minute I did this his head dropped down in to an outline, his hind end came under him and it was all more balanced it felt AMAZING! I only had to slightly half halt to keep him in it but I hardly had to move to get h
