Happy New Year

I just want to say Happy New Year to Everyone I know I'm a bit early but I thought I'd do it now before the internet goes mad with everyone trying to get in contact with each other. I hope you all have a good year and if you haven't had a good year that next year is a better year for you.  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Merry Christmas

Just wanted to say a merry christmas to everyone I hope you're all having a good day and get everything that you've wanted! Will do a proper post tomorrow about what I got, it was mainly things for my camera. Got one more present to come on the 27th :D  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

catch up post

not got much to report guys! I've got two weeks off riding now as the school has shut for christmas but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to be at my stables at some point over the holidays. On saturday I got to ride Vettie, he was the last ride of my year and we had a fairly good ride.  I managed to get some really nice outline work out of him and we've become really consistent in the work that we do in the walk. I also attempted doing some leg yields, while they were no where near perfect I did get some leg crossing so I was really happy with that and the more I did it the easier it was to get Vettie to drop in to an outline. I also got a few nice bits in the trot with him. While my trot work still isn't very consistent it is slowly improving but I do need to work more on keeping my position still and holding my core muscles in place.  Sunday we had my uncle over for the family meal, it was nice but at the same time weird because it was the first chris...

Snow's due

Well not a lot has been going on in my life so i've not got much to update you all on. I've been thinking about my negotiated project for University and what subject I might like to choose for it but I've still not decided fully yet. Other than that I've been spending time with Jack and a few other good friends. It's been nice to just chill out and have nothing to stress about.  They've given out snow for tonight so we will see in the morning whether or not we get any snow, if we do there will be pictures!  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Gatsby - No Stirrup Work - 14th December 2013

On saturday I got to ride Gatsby again for the first time in a while. I was looking forward to it and knew that I wanted to do either some canter work or some jump work, however Fiona said no to jumping because of my shoulder.  Because Gatsby had been rode before my lesson he was already warmed up when I got on him. We quickly decided that I was going to do some work without stirrups. As this is something that I haven't done in quite a while. I was looking forward to doing it and it felt great because I wasn't worrying about falling off I was just relaxed and got on with doing it.  After we had spent a good 20/30 minutes we the moved on to doing some canter work. I was able to get some nice lively transitions in to the canter but I was struggling to maintain the canter this week. I am still however happy with the work that I got out of him. I got a video of some of our canter work and some photographs as well. When i was riding without stirrups I got some of the best ...

a series of unfortunate events

Today has been a quiet day for me to just take things easy. I woke up feeling quite tired and aching for some reason but didn't think anything of it. Jack came to keep me company for the day and it turns out it's a good job that he did because my dad and mum both ended up out all day so I would have been in the house all day on my own. While he was here we watched some films and we both decided we think that I am coming down with something as I felt really cold but he said that I felt really warm. Picture from the other day :)   My dad and ended up out for the day at hospital with his friends wife as she couldn't drive. She'd been getting head aches for a while and had gone to see her doctor who told her that she needed to go to the hospital straight away because she might lose the sight in her eye.  My mum also ended up in the hospital but for a completely different reason. Yesterday my sister went out after she had dropped my nephew off at nursery. When s...

a short catch up note

Just a quick update to let you know that my car is back home now. It's had all the work done it that it needed doing and I am really glad to have it back because I feel a lot safer in it than I did in the Citroen C1.  The bruises from the car accident with Evie have just about gone now which I'm really happy about but the bruised area on my chest is still quite painful to touch. I will be putting in a claim against Evies car insurance from that night.  I've now officially finished all my uni work for my first semester. I've really enjoyed the course and can't wait to get started on our next project.  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Riding Vettie - 7th December 2013

hey guys sorry I've not posted in a while.  Today I rode Vettie for my lesson. Alice was riding which meant that she rode Gatsby while I got to ride Vettie. I had a really good ride this week and think that it was probably the best that I have ever rode. Unfortunately when I got there I found out that my camera had died so there was no videos which I was gutted about.  In the walk i was able to quickly and carefully get a nice outline out of Vettie, I did lots of lateral work with him all though none of it was particularly great but the more I did the easier it was to get him in to an outline. My main goal for this week was to be able to get more outline work in the trot and walk and be more consistent.  After I was being more consistent in the walk I moved up to the trot. To start with it wasn't great because I wasn't being firm enough when asking him to drop in to an outline. I decided that I wanted to work on going in to an outline in the walk, asking for ...

Ride on Vettie and Car accident Pictures

For my lesson this week I got to ride Vettie, I had the choice between him and Gatsby. I chose Vettie because he is a lot easier to ride and also because he wouldn't hurt my hips because he is not as wide as Gatsby. Before I got on Vettie I explained what had happened and we decided that we were just going to take the lesson easy. We did a lot of walk work, working on getting him to an outline but I was having difficulty with my left shoulder so we put him on his bungees (not sure if i spelt that right). This was to help me get in the outline but I needed to remember that I needed to keep working not just let them do all of the work.  When we moved up to doing the trot work I was struggling to keep my position still but Fiona said that was to be expected after the accident earlier in the week. I still got some nice trot work but it's not as nice as the work that I had got out of him the week before. We also worked on doing some shoulder in and leg yields and it was so ...
