Riding 20th October 2012

So on Saturday I had another riding Lesson at west hallam riding school and im finding that im fitting in better than i expected, i love the lessons, and get on with the people there and certainly feel like I am improving slowly but surely. Which makes me feel better to know that my riding is getting better.  So on Saturday Jamie-lee was back as she hadn't been there last week, so we were back to having the two of us in a lesson and it was really good. We originally planned to work on doing leg-yeilding and shoulder in. However instead we spent the majority of the time working on creating the perfect outline. For those of you who don't know this means that the horse carries their head in the right position, so that the neck is curved but not that the horse is over bent and not that the horse is holding their head to high. To do this the horse needs its hind-quarters engaged, and needs to have a lot of energy but not to much you then need to catch the energy in the front en...

Riding Gatsby Today :)

So today i went back to riding Gatsby, Fiona bought him in out the field and said to him 'look who's come to see you' and he made me smile by putting his ears forward and looking all happy to see me! A great way to start my time with the big guy! He's looking considerably better, and happier than he was at broomfield so thats good to see Before the lesson fiona asked if i minded her using me as and gatsby as an example, so that two girls could see what the lessons were like, i said i didnt mind, so for the hour they watched me riding Gatsby, who i have to see put his heart and soul in to it. We did more leg yeiling in which i managed to get one perfect one but then couldn't get it perfect again after that! We also did some shoulder in work which was the first time that i did it properly and i can say he was amazing at doing it :') he was perfect at it he put his heart and soul in to it. he really did. towards the end we got a couple of really good shoulders...

as one chapter ends a new one begins.

I've decided to keep updating more often the majority of my updates will be on horses because as we all on know they're the thing that I love the most! But Today I've decided that I will also keep you all updated on the day to day things that go on in my life! Some days will be interesting others might be a little boring but still its an update none the less! I'm also going to try and update once a day, so that every month there is the same amount of posts for all you lovely people as there is days in the month!  So as you can all guess from the name of this chapter its about new beginnings, almost fresh starts but at the same time, I'm still the same girl just have different things going on in my life compared to what I thought would be going on. When I first started riding Gatsby, as I am sure you all know by now I fell in love with that horse, there was something different something special about him, something that no other horse I had ever rode and to ...

a year as a rider

Wow its october already time sure is passing fast don't you all think? This time last year I was riding at broomfield and we had just got the new international sized indoor school, which kept us out of the horrible winter that was sure to come in the later months and it did, though it was not as snowy as the years before who knows if the snow will keep coming each year. Now I've left broomfield and am trying to take my riding on to a high standard and make me riding into the rider that i want to be but along the way many things have happened, so im going to highlight just a few. I had my first ever fall off a horse in all the years that I have been riding and man did that hurt, I was riding Tuesday a 15hh coloured horse, she's  not a cob, but she IS very spooky. I was riding her without stirrups and no matter how hard I pulled on the reins I just couldn't stop her! So I ended up falling on to the wall that was deffo extremely painful.  Then came the christmas s...

bad news

unfortunately i can't tell you about my riding lesson as i did not have one! Me, my mum and dad went up and got told the lesson had been cancelled because a pony that fiona had, had for a long time has been put to sleep this morning! :( this has also give me a bit more respect for because as my mum says it shows just how much she cares about each individual animal and doesnt think of thme as a job until next time A Girl With A Dream.

Changes in Gatsby

Okay everyone I have time to update about the changes in Gatsby before I go up to west hallam this is mainly a pictures post, as it is easier to see from the pictures the changes in him but at the same time there will be bits of information here and there as well : This picture and the pictures below show Gatsby when he was at Broomfield, while he worked hard and did what he wanted us to do, he was holding his head in a high position and his way to get out of doing work was to shake his head, which ended up being a bad habbit, now Gatsby does not shake his head for no reason as much as he used to, he still does it occasionally but not as much  The two pictures above show Gatsby in the same position, the first was taken in september and the one below was taken in march i have done this to show how gatsby has put weight on and now looks a lot healthier than he used to. :D  These last two pictures i have put in to show how gatsby now works in a much more 'r...

Changes in Gatsby and riding lesson tomorrow

Hey everyone  Sorry to disappoint but this is not a serious update with lots of things on for you all! sorry :( But it is to let you know that after my riding lesson tomorrow afternoon i will be updating to tell you all about how the riding lesson going but also something that i think a lot of you will find interesting, well i know i find it interesting. I have got all the pictures together to do a 'changes in gatsby' page, this will not only show the changes in how he feels to be rode, and the outline that he works in but it will also show the changes in weight as at one point gatsby was underweight and people are now working hard to get him back in to shape but ALSO to get him back to a healthier weight. So there will be more about that tomorrow  Until then  A Girl With A Dream :)
