Equine Photography

Here's the first of a few posts over the next week that are going to be packed with pictures! I love these photographs and they are going to be used for my university course :)  Mummy and Baby walking together. This little foal was so cute and really inquisitive, he wasn't scared of me even when I was carrying and using my DSLR Camera!  Out of all of the photographs this is my personal favourite. Before I had done any editing to this photograph it was just an average photo. There wasn't anything that made it stand out. Then I added a black and white filter but I still wasn't happy with that so I finally changed it to a baby pink and black photograph. Let me know what you guys think.  Also I will do my best to reply to everyone's comments that they have kindly left on my other posts. Thank you to everyone that takes the time to comment, I always love hearing from you guys :)  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

A quick post

I got up earlier than I would normally do on a Sunday so that I could get some work done for a couple of my university modules. Some of them are just sticking in photographs and others take a bit longer as they are looking at other peoples work seeing what I like or don't like and then seeing how I can apply it to my own work. Then I also have to do a fair bit of drawing for my course because its a foundation year in Art and Design. My favourite module so far is my Thursday all day because this is where we look more in detail at photography and photoshop.  That's pretty much all that I've done today. I still can't really take in that I got to ride Vettie yesterday he was lovely to ride and he really highlights in my position where I need to work on more. I'm looking forward to riding him again, I also can't wait for pony club on Monday and for some Gatsby time!  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Surprise!

So today I got a nice surprise when I got to my stables it turned out I would be having a change of horse for the lesson this week and I was privileged enough to be able to ride Vettie. For those of you that don't know Vettie is Fiona's horse that she competes to a really high level. The minute I sat on him I found that I did really like him, he made me feel confident and he didn't make my back hurt. His saddle put me in exactly the right place and as soon as I started moving with him I could feel my hips instinctively swinging with the movement of his body. Steph taught Alice and JaimieLeigh  while Fiona helped me to get used to him. His trot was amazing! He has such a big bouncy stride but I found that I didn't struggle to rise with it, I even got him in a nice outline for quite a while which felt amazing! I really did enjoy riding him and look forward to riding him again one day. We worked on doing some leg yield which went awfully for me but made Vettie drop in to ...

First Lecture and workshop

So today is the first day that I am actually coming on my computer to do my post the past few nights I've been loading blogger up on my phone and then typing my post on that then going straight to sleep. So I haven't actually been reading any body elses blog. Well that changed today I caught up on what everybody has been up to.  This morning I had my first actual workshop for my second Module. I was looking forward to it but at the same time as it's more a fine art module I was nervous about the drawing that we had to do but I really like the work that we had to do. We started off in our studio space and then we had to do 8 drawings marking the journey that we were going on. It could be anything from rubbings, marking, views out of the windows or people walking around. It could also be done in any material that we wanted to so I used a combinations of pens and a HB pencil. It was really fun and at the end I got some great feedback and also got told that lots of the thi...

outline work

In todays lesson Gatsby and I worked on Flat work. After doing a few weeks of jumping work it's safe to say it's time for me to start getting back in to my outline work. When I got there I gave Gatsby some loving and a good groom then I got on him. We decided that we would work more on getting him in to an outline and also on getting him to be more forward and responsive. When I first got on he was responsive and moving off my leg, but when circling we were getting way to much leg bend. So we worked on staying really still in my position.  I then started moving on to doing rein back, this is where things started to get really interesting Gatsby became a hundred times more responsive. We would do two or three steps of rein back then I would ask him to move forwards but going straight in to the trot. This was amazing we were managing to get in to the outline a lot easier and I was really enjoying it. However as soon as I started to feel tired I lost the outline. Fiona got on...

soft play centre and Module two

Today has been another good but long day, with my student loan now being in my bank account I decided that I would have a McDonald's breakfast because I haven't had one in ages so I got up to do that this morning. Then at lunch time my mum and I were meeting up with my nephew and sister to go to a soft play centre, we had our fair share of fun and running all over the place, it was really good.  This afternoon I had my first lesson on my second module, a module that looks at different styles of art work, this module has more drawing in it than the other one that we have been given so far. Part of me really likes this but I'm also slightly apprehensive about it as well as there is quite a lot of work to do with drawing the human body something that I'm not very good at but we will soon see how it goes.  Until next time  A Girl With A Dream

Getting started on Module one and grid work and poles rally.

Today was my first actual day of doing something productive for our course. The theme of our first module is looking at the body. This is such a broad subject but a subject that I am looking forward to because pretty much anything will fit in with it. The things about this subject that I found the most interesting are 'manipulation of the human body' because this allows me to explore the use of corsets, the use of piercings and tattoos. This second idea that I had was looking at how people hide their body away because it's not the typical size 8 body along with many other things e.g. because they don't like a particular part of the body. I've already done the first page of my journal, made a good start on the first page of my sketchbook. I am going to be keeping an up to date diary of what I do when for my course. The second idea is the idea that I looked at first so I'm looking at the use of masquerade masks as I think they're really pretty.  We also g...

just a quick post from me and thank you!

I'm feeling really tired so todays post isn't going to be very long! I want to thank everybody for their comments on my previous post about my competition entry, keep your opinions coming and also any constructive opinions (e.g. needing to edit photos) are welcome.  Today I did the last part of my enrolment for the technology hire shop, meaning I can now borrow lenses, tripod's flashes etc. When we had finished doing that I just chilled out for a couple of hours and then it was time to go to Nottingham for Ice Skating. It was so much fun, I ached by the end but I did have a really good time and I am so glad that I did go. I think I'd like to start Ice Skating more often maybe once a month or something like that. It was a great opportunity to build up people's confidence but also to talk to people that you wouldn't normally talk to.  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Opinions please!

Hey guys so I would like to ask you for some opinions! I am hoping to enter a photography competition soon, it's the first competition that I've really felt confident enough to enter my work in to. Here's the catch though I can only enter two photographs I've been able to narrow it down to five but now need to narrow it down to two. The objective for the photograph is a countryside seen of Derbyshire or Nottingham. So let me know what you guys think!  Choice one  Choice two Choice 3  Choice 4  Finally Choice 5 So let me know which one you guys like the most by commenting with two of the 'choices'. Today was my first university Field trip. To start off with it was cold, rainy and no one was really looking forward to it but then the day started to warm up and people started to wake up and it suddenly became more interesting! I loved the second part of the yorkshire sculpture part that we went to and think out of everything that we went ...
