So many new experiences and a Happy New Year.

Sunday, 31 December 2017
Well magic is doing super well, yesterday we did some more ground work with him, starting to really build up the work that he's doing so that when it comes to the time to ride him there is a solid foundation for it in place. So we gave magic a fuss and a cuddle. Then went to work. We slowly placed his roller and his saddle pad over his back and then got to work on slowly doing it up, the idea was to gradually do it all up while giving him fuss so that he saw it as a rewarding thing and not a punishment or something that he does not do.

We then walked out to the school and got to work on lunging, we started off on his bad rein (left rein) we did walk work and really built up the idea of getting him to lunge and stay out not fall in. We then added in a little bit of trot, not a lot but enough that he was experiencing something different. We lunged to the left for 3 mins 30 seconds. After this we stopped changed the rein and lunged to the right, this way he was much happier to pick up walk and trot, although this way he tried to push his luck by stopping while he was on the circle. However a firm no, a flick of the lunge whip and off he went again. Magic still tries to push his luck but he is also much more open and willing to learn and move forward. He picked up walk and trot and again we went for 3 mins and 30 seconds this way. While we were on a roll, I then decided that we would try a little bit of ground driving, long reining, long lining whatever you want to call it we gave it ago. Magic didn't really get it at first but that was because I wasn't being clear enough in asking him what I wanted him to do. I then asked my mum to help by starting off with her walking next to him and then with her slowly slowing down so that he was walking on his own. Once I felt like he had a rough idea of what I wanted to do, we took the opportunity to walk down the rows of caravans and walk around. Listening to word commands and trying to really get magic to listen to what I wanted. We did this for about 10 minutes and then walked in to the stable, before I slowly removed all his equipment, gave him some fuss and put him his rug back on. This was a massive accomplishment for magic and proves that he really is wanting to learn more and he wants to try new things.

Today Magic had another new experience, although this one came in the size of my 6 year old nephew. My sister is in hospital after having an allergic reaction to something, although the doctors do not know what to. So I offered to have my nephew for the night, and this meant that Brody got to go and see Magic. So we were stood in the stable with magic just relaxing and giving him some fuss. When brody said he wanted to know what it was like and how far up his back was. So I lifted Brody up so that he was level with his back and then let him lie on it. I was holding Brody's body weight and Magic didn't even bat an eye lid. So then I put him down and Brody asked if he could sit on Magic. So I lifted Brody up placed him on Magic's back and held him there for a few seconds, before bringing him down. We did this a few times and Magic didn't even bat an eye lid just stood there eating his hay. I did get a video of this but I haven't got around to uploading it to youtube yet. So that will feature in tomorrow's blog post.

Now I am fully aware that some people will not agree with what I have done with Magic and Brody BUT here's the thing Magic is MY HORSE and I know my horse better than anyone else. I can 100% say that Magic would  never do anything to hurt anybody and that I would also never put Brody in that situation where he could get hurt either. So before people have negative comments, this was something that I thought about and that we tried and that worked for us. I'm not saying that it would work for everyone but it did work for us and that's all that I am bothered about. He is happy, cheerful, and enjoys doing the work that is asked of him.

So on that note I am going to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope that you have all had, having or will have a fantastic night and that 2018 is a great year for you all.

catching up - new goals and ambitions

Thursday, 28 December 2017
Hi everyone,

Sorry for the lack of posting over the Christmas period, I thought that I would have some time off ready to hit the new year with posts every date and plenty of magic updates. When I first started writing this blog it was a journey to getting my own horse, a journey through my riding, and a journey to where I would end up in life. Now part of that journey has been completed, I have my very own horse, the only real dream that I have had since a young age has come true, and I'm not going to stop there. So as life is a journey I've decided that the best thing to do is keep writing my blog. So what's to come in this journey? Me completing my BHS stages and exams, both in riding, teaching, care and lunging. I aim to get my own stables and yard, that will primarily be a livery yard but will also be a rescuing and rehoming centre for animals that really need help, while it will mainly be horses, I'd like to think that I could include other animals too. Making Magic the best horse that he can be, Magic is already doing so well, everything that I ask him to do he just takes in his stride and he is always willing to learn. While I know that he is not your traditional horse my aim is to compete at dressage with him, as well as have lots of fun along the way! My other aims are smaller and simpler, things such as become good at dealing with finances, get my health in better condition and also lose weight. So I think that I have plenty of writing to do that you guys can all enjoy.

Magic has been doing really well recently, he has had Christmas off to just enjoy being a horse and get lots of fuss and attention. Just before Christmas his roller came so magic has had this on twice, once when he was being lunged and once when we were just having some fuss in the stable. Magic has also been clipped for the second year, last year he had a fully body clip just leaving his legs fury, however I think that was too much, so this year magic has had a trace clip and he looks really good. It makes him look older than he is but I think part of that is his personality. His lunging is coming on well, he can lunge in both directions competently at walk and trot, we have yet to try canter. He can free school, although this is something that we do less often but again he is competent with walk and trot, voice prompts and directions. He is a very trusting willing horse who over the next few months is going to begin his journey towards ready to start being backed at three.

I am getting there slowly with my goals, but they are things that will take time, my weight tends to yo-yo up an down but this is something that I am used to. Unfortunately due to bad health, and problems with my legs, my doctor has decided that I can't do any strenuous activity for the moment. So that means that I am currently limited on what I can do until I see the physio next Wednesday, So for the minute the dogs are being walked, calories are being watched, and light activity at the gym is happening if I feel up to it. Since going on my journey to lose weight I have lost roughly a stone and a half and I plan to keep losing more. Come January I'm going to become even stricter with what I am and am not doing towards this goal as well.

So on that note this post has got a bit longer than I planned for it to be, so I'm off to do some clothes washing, watch T.V. and try and get warm.

Lunging Magic, Desensitisation and just having fun!

Saturday, 16 December 2017
so yesterday I didn't get around to writing my blog post I was feeling a little bit under the weather so spent the evening curled up with the dogs, watching Heartland on Netflix. However we also had a really good session with Magic yesterday too, my dad and mum did magic's stable to save me some time, and I got to giving Magic a brush and taking his rugs off. After this I put Magic's Cavesson on again and then gently placed Magic's bridle on. The idea was to do a little bit more work with him as long as he was happy to do it, it's only over the past week that I have started incorporating more work. So if he wasn't happy then we weren't going to do it. However I was amazed when Magic was happy to go in to the school and just got straight to it. We mainly focused on walk work going clockwise to start with but then Magic picked up a trot so we went with it, we spent a few minutes going this way before I asked him to stand again and then bought him back to walk going anti clockwise, he was really good. He still finds this direction a lot harder than the other direction, so yesterday I kept it to walk work, only asking him to do what I knew that he could easily do. We'd taken the dogs up to the stables yesterday too but they had been in the car, Jack asked Lynn if he could get them out so I then took some time to desensitise magic to the dogs and the dogs to magic. I started with Diesel and Diesel, Magic and I walked around the school, then I moved on to casper. With Casper I had to do a bit shorter work as him and Magic are not the worlds most tolerant towards each other. I then popped Magic in his stable and gave him his feed bucket. Below you can see the video of our work, please do feel free to leave any comments that you might have :).

Today was going to be Magic's day off but I moved that until tomorrow. The main reason for this was because sonny and his owner where in the school, so I though that I would take the opportunity to pop Magic in to the school while Sonny was in the school to get him used to it. That didn't quite go as plan but still I popped magics cavesson on him, I walked him to the school and did some work on standing and waiting, while lynn finished in the school with sonny. I then took magic down to the mounting black and decided I'd start standing on it and stroking Magic, the idea is to get magic used to me being stood above him. It's going to take some time but the idea is to start getting the idea in his head that scary things aren't so scary. When everyone was finished in the school, I popped magic in the school, he was super excited to start with, he was trotting around and trying to push his look but we worked through this and we kept going until he calmed down and was ready to listen. The idea behind this was to make Magic realise that if he wants to misbehave and not do at his told I'll get him to do more work, so he soon realises that the easiest option is to do as he is told. In the end he worked well and he stretched and lunged nicely both ways. before he got popped back in his stable with two massive nets and curled up and a nice big bed.

Another positive for today is I weighed myself again today and I've lost another 5ibs! That means i'm 5ibs off losing two stone since I went on my get fit mission!

Round two cavesson and lunging continued

Thursday, 14 December 2017
Okay so I didn't manage to get a video today but after magic responded so well to his cavesson yesterday on decide to take the plunge and give it another go today. I went up to the stables and magic was already in. So I tied him up outside while I got to work on his stable, it wasnt as bad as normal today but it was still pretty trashed. I then got his grooming kit and got to doing a bit of grooming magic was being good and calm. He seemed to have a sensible head on him which is great.

I then put his cavesson on and over the top put his bridle on him. I don't connect the  lunge line to the bridle as at the moment the idea of the bridle being on is just to get him used to the feel of it. I gave him a quick fuss before asking the lady who owns sonny if it would be okay to lunge magic in the bottom of the school while she rode. I expected magic to be quite excitable when Sonny went in to trot but he really wasnt. We only did walk work at the moment but he maintained a nice stretch and really relaxed in to lunging which I would say is the first time that he has done this. Even when sonny did bits of canter work and trot work magic still kept walking on calmly and quietly. I do wish that I had got a video of it. After this I gave magic some more fuss before quietly and calmly untacking him. He was such a good boy.

I then popped to we my riding teacher and we have decided that its time to get magic a roller. So I have ordered his roller and that should come one day next week.

But on that note I'm going to head to bed and to watch TV.

Lunging with a cavesson session one

Wednesday, 13 December 2017
So today I took the plunge and went to get magic a lunge cavesson after doing a fair bit of research into it last night. I figured I needed a little bit of help with magics lunging not because he is naughty but because he is green. Some days we will have a really good lunge session, hell be foot perfect and we can get walk and trot work (we haven't started on canter yet). Other days he will do two or three good strides and then decide to stop and then stand there and stare at me or he'll try and decide that he is going the opposite way. Now I know that this isn't really him being naughty it is just him being a baby. So we will keep working on this. However I have also looked in to how I can use this to work on his ground work. The main thing that we need to work on is trotting in hand, and standing and waiting as these are not necessarily magics strong point but in time he will get there.

Above you can see magic lunging today. I will be the first to admit that today he was not doing his best! He wasnt listening the world's best, he was a bit lazy, a bit not in the mood but we still got a couple of nice steps. So today might not have been a good day but tomorrow could be a better day. We ended tonights session with working on bridling him and bitting him. He did so much better at this, he happily accepted the bit although of course he had to have a little play. He let me do all the straps up and then he let me take it off him calmly and quietly. So while we have not had the world's best lunging session today we have had a good bitting session. We may not always have the perfect sessions but we always learn and we will continue to learn until one day we will be exactly where we have always wanted to be.
A hello from Casper to you all

But now I'm lying in bed watching it snow and watching the apprentice with Casper and looking back at today and what I have learnt is that every cloud has a silver lining. Things might not be perfect but I know that with lots of time and patience magic and I can get to be where we want to be.

Until tomorrow

Hide and seek with magic and a wish list

Tuesday, 12 December 2017
Hi y'all

Well today has been a good day, I didn't get the world's best nights sleep but I managed to eventually sleep the whole morning away. Jack and I then went to my mums for lunch, every year my uncle and his girlfriend come down for an early Christmas lunch as they never come for christmas. So today was the day, we did the normal pleasantry conversations and talked about not a lot, but while it was good to see them he is also completely and utterly insane. After this we went to see magic moo.

Now my little man is a complete and utter nightmare at keeping his bed clean! Every night without fail he trashes it, and every day I'll think maybe tomorrow will be better but that day hasn't come yet. I put him two huge haynets up, cleaned all his bedding up and made him a nice big fluffy bed. I then sorted his tea ready for when I came in. Now normally when I am there magic will appear at some point so when he ddo not appear I decided to take a trek down the field and find out where he was. I walked I to the field where they all were and expected to see magic there but I was amazed when he wasn't there.

I looked around and eventually found magic the other side of the bottom wall, like you can see in the above picture. I have no idea why he was there on his own but he was, so I walked all the way down to get him, it was almost like he couldn't remember where he was or how to get out it was one of the oddest things that I have seen. He soon came and said hello but I am not entirely sure why he decided that he did not want to come up with the rest but once he came to me he was more than happy to follow me up. So I bought him up put him in his stable and gave him his tea.

After this we did a few more jobs before it was time to go and say good bye to my uncle. I've spent the last few days looking in to things that in would like to buy for magic when it comes to time for him to be rode! The first thing that i have always wanted for my boy is a sue Carson dressage saddle. To me this is the most amazing saddle ever to ride in, its so comfy and helps with my position so much. So it is something that I intend to get him. The next thing that I would like to buy is a LeMieux set with saddle cloth (dressage cut) fly viel, possibly bandages in teal. Its not a colour that I thought I would like to buy but after seeing it I would be lying if I said that I hadn't fallen in love with it. Next on the list is an aqua and clear diamante browband that I think would really suit him. the final main thing that I plan to buy is a nice new bridle, I'm leaning towards the sue Carson bridle as I Love things to match.

On that note I have plenty to think about, so I am going to leave it there for now. Until tomorrow.

Horse mum panic - 'is this rug enough'

Monday, 11 December 2017
Well temperatures are set to plummet again tonight apparently with lows of -15 degrees. Now i know to some people this is not very cold but to us this is freezing. So this created mad mum panic that magic needed a new rug with a neck. Pictures below, so I got him a 250gram Sheldon combined rug in blue. Now I have never been a huge fan of blue I am sure that you will all know that for me everything has to be pink, but I was pleasantly surprised that aqua blue looks really good on magic so maybe this will be a new colour gets seen in more often. But then anything is possible when you have a rainbow coloured head collar.

I have to admit that I am growing fond of this colour on magic and maybe it will be seen more often.

My sleeping pattern is also fifty shades of messed up at the moment.  I don't go to sleep until 4 or 5 in the morning and then some nights I do go to sleep at a normal time but an hour later I'm awake again, and end up with only 2 or 3 hours sleep. It's getting to the point it's driving me insane but the doctors have told me that I'm not allowed any medications for my sleep. I'm also suffering with restless leg syndrome, it had a flair up about 3 weeks ago. I've got to say they were the start of my sleeping problems and it's such a hard thing to deal with as your legs will literally feel 100% numb you can't get comfy but you still spend the whole night trying until eventually your that exhausted that you just kind of pass out. The plus side is that my evenings now get spent curled up in bed with my dogs.

So some people may be curious what my plans are at the minute, so I'll tell you all a bit more as those of you that have me on Facebook you will know that I am currently under going my BHS training. Due to my weight at the moment I can not currently ride. So I'm just doing the care side I have just completed my BHS STAGE 1 IN CARE, in the new year my plan will be to undergo my stage 2 and start getting my teaching qualifications. I Will then start looking for teaching jobs but also become self employed once I have saved up enough I plan to open my own livery yard. My plans with magic are to wait until he is 3 I will then start to increase his work and see how he is doing and if he's ready to start slowly being backed. I plan on getting him a new bridle and of course a blingy browband. I also plan on initially getting a used second hand sue Carson saddle and then in the future I will buy magic a new sue Carson dressage saddle.

Anyway I'm now off to watch heartland I wonder why I never found this TV series until now.

Until next time

Snow day fun day

Sunday, 10 December 2017
Well I haven't been able to see magic today, the weather is awful here with plenty of Snow. While we may only have an inch or two that's more than enough for me. Instead I spent the morning curled up in bed. I then woke jack up when it was time to go to my mums for Sunday lunch. We go every week and every week I'll have something different to everyone else. We then went to Curry's to get the new kindle fire as jack accidentally broke my last one. All I need to do now is get a case for it, after all it is better to be safe than to be sorry. So I'm now sat outside Jack's uncles using my new tablet to carry on updating you all.

I realised after I posted yesterdays post that iid forgotten to mention to very important factors these of course being Casper and Diesel. Since I've last posted on this blog the dogs have changed loads. While they do tend to still gave their odd moments of naughtiness I would be lying if I said that they were not 100 times better than they were before. The play ifighting is minimal now, they dont destroy thing's  often all though diesel does still have his little puppy phases which of course drive everyone mad. They now routinely get walked at least every other day, then the days that I don't walk them I go to the gym. Its still an uphill battle trying to get weight on Casper but he does seem to slowly be improving. Casper is the opposite and has developed the nickname little barrel dog as you can feed him the slightest little bits and he can come out his cage bloated.

Well I best dash as still have jobs to do and still got the puppies to walk although in this weather I'm dreading it.

Until next time

an update on the best horse in the world

Saturday, 9 December 2017
okay so it's been quite a while since I've posted on here, I think that it would be honest to say that I can't really remember the last time that I've posted on here, but as I took the opportunity to enjoy the snowy scenery and take some photographs of magic, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to get back in to regularly posting.

So Magic is coming on really well, he has changed loads over the past year, and is becoming a very gentle giant. At just over two and a half years old, he's already standing at over 16.2hh, and he's now starting to chunk out nicely as well. We currently lunge twice a week, we are doing more walking out on the roads and slowly introducing him to new things. Of course I have cuteness overload in the form of pictures for you all. I am so happy that magic is also coming in to winter nicely, I'll have to admit that after last winter I was a little bit nervous that he would be poorly again but he hasn't been! He's got a nice coat, he's looking healthy and he's not underweight. He lunges nicely both ways, he walks in hand nicely, we have more work to do on the trotting in hand but I know in time we will get there.

I am also currently riding two horses for Lynn, my yard owner, a gorgeous 17 hand black gelding called Stan, he's so similar to Gatsby, which is always refreshing and nice to ride. I'm also riding a smaller grey mare called Derry, I haven't got any pictures of my riding at the moment, well not any that I want to share as it's safe to say after not riding for a year I'm just a little bit rusty. But i'm just really happy to be back on a horse again, I also can not wait to ride magic, even if I have got a long way to go before that's going to happen.

I'm also currently on a mission to lose weight since October I have lost a stone and 2 ibs and the reason for this is a) I need to lose weight and b) I am undergoing my BHS training, I have already completed my first BHS exam, my stage 1 care and passed it, I plan on undergoing my stage 2 in the new year with the aim of owning my own equestrian business when I am older and more qualified. While I know that it's going to take a while and be a long hard progress it is something that I want to do and believe that I can do.

But I do not want to make this post to long, so I'll leave it here and I'll leave you with some photo's of the gorgeous magic moo!

Until Next Time
Amber and Magic

I now have a two year old

Sunday, 28 May 2017
Magic is finally 2, to be precise he is 2 years, a week and two days old, and he is doing great, he is finally looking loads better. He's healthier, happier and enjoying life. His manners are coming on in leaps and bounds, he's understanding what I am asking to do and he is slowly coming in to work.

I have started lunging him twice a week for no more than 10 minutes at a time, 5 minutes on each side making sure that I work him evenly on both sides. He spends the majority of the day out in the field with his friends but he has now learnt that when I ask him to come in he can come in on his own and it doesn't matter that his friends are out in the field. He's doing so well and takes everything that I ask him to in his stride. He's happy, healthy and safe and that is all that matters to me. I'm not writing a lot tonight as I'm a little bit under the weather but here's some videos of magic working.

Remember that you can check out my youtube channel whenever you want and there you will find all the videos that I create for Magic, as it sometimes takes me a little bit longer to upload them here.

Casper and Diesel are doing great, part of the reason that I haven't been blogging is that they haven't been to great recently. The environment with my downstairs neighbour has made casper become arsey and also the amount of testosterone flying around between the two of them hasn't been helping. Out of no where Casper started going for diesel and we almost had to have casper put down. Luckily we found a decent vet and spoke to them and they suggested having the pair neutered and said that this should show a huge alteration but that it would take time. The pair have now been neutered and are under a strict training programme and are both doing so much better now. They've not had one play fight or bad moment. They also have to have a diffuser to calm them down as the vets opinion is that the arguing from my neighbours is sending them over the top and to anxious. It's safe to say that this is working so well!

On that note, I'm now shattered and off to bed.

Until Tomorrow,
Amber, Magic, Casper and Diesel.

Wednesday, 10 May 2017
Hi everyone,

Well I have got an hour until I've got to go out again, to go walk the dogs, and then go help a friend out, but I just have to blog this now! I am way to excited to wait to blog this. MAGIC FINALLY GOT IT. Okay your probably going to think what the hell is she on about? Well for those of you that have been reading my blog you will know that I've started bring magic in to work and I'd started teaching him for lunge. For ages I'd been trying to get him to lunge and he'd do about two strides and then it would just all go wrong, well not today, my baby horse finally got it! It was like a light just clicked in his head and the next thing I knew he was listening to voice cues, and was walking and trotting on cue on a lunge line. I was completely and utterly amazed, I was so proud of my amazing, gorgeous baby horse. We did this for five minutes on the right rein, but we then went to go on to the left rein and it didn't work out.

For some reason we both really struggle on the left rein, and magic really knows that he can get away with this, as when i've been poorly, i have, wrongly so, let him. So today I really got after him and made him go to the left, I had my mum and Lynn's help. I still didn't quite get it right BUT Lynn had a go and while it wasn't perfect we managed to get two circles of him going to the left. I don't care if it's not perfect every time. I don't care if we struggle and aren't able to do it, what I do care about is that he tries and I try and that together we slowly get there. We might have bad days and we might have good days but the most important part is that we have fun together. So from now on we're really going to work at it. Today I saw the light at the end of the tunnel that I knew eventually would come but that I had been waiting to come for so long. I finally got to see those movements that I saw as a baby when he was a field, when I asked him for them.

Magic is such a good little horse that tries his heart out to do everything that I ask him to do. After having such a rubbish week this was the light that I needed to realise that things were finally getting better. I've had a nightmare situation with my neighbours but I'll put that in another post as I REFUSE to bring my mood down for anyone. Tomorrow we will try again and maybe it won't be as good a day as today but one thing I do know? With time and patients we will both get there and right now that is all that matters to me.

So on that note I'm heading off and going to spend some time catching up with all your blogs.

Until Next Time

day 2 of Magic's 'coming in to work' - lunging

Monday, 10 April 2017
So today was the second consistent day that Magic has had to do something different, where he's had to learn and he's had to think about what he is doing.

So I'll start with yesterday, yesterday Magic has had Bridle on again and went for his second walk out of the yard in a while. We did not walk far out just to the top of the drive and back, we then stood around and waited for a little while. Magic was super nervous due to the fact that he has never seen cows before. However he stood there nicely for a while and got used to the cows and I waited until he had settled down before bringing him back on to the yard. He then had to stand in the stable next to his (with his Bridle on) while he was wandering around, and at the same time I played Cow noises that I found on youtube (my mum's idea) to desensitise him to the sound so that next time it might be a little bit less scary.

Below are some pictures from yesterday.
Such a beautiful big little baby. so proud of how well he is coming on at the moment.
Today we did something a little bit different, I've recently been advised to start getting Magic used to listening to voice commands, to doing little bits of lunging (obviously not to much as he is still a baby). Basically just to get him working and using his hind end (which isn't very strong), and listening to my voice. Today was the first day that he had ever been lunged (there is a video below) my yard owner, Lynn showed me how to get him started, and he was so good, he picked up the idea very quickly and I was super happy with the work that we did. We only did 5 minutes each way but it very quickly became evident that he has already got a stronger and a weaker rein, this just happens to be the rein that I am also stronger on. So his better rein at the moment is his left rein and his weaker rein is his right rein. Please check out the video that is below.

Tomorrow we will have another small walk out with head collar and bridle on, then on Thursday he will go back in the school again and I think that we will keep alternating days like this for a while just to get him used to it.

So that's all for now.
Amber, Magic, Casper and Diesel

What a day?

Saturday, 8 April 2017
Not got much to say today, due to the fact that unfortunately I'm ill AGAIN. I thought that i'd still post even if it wasn't the most interesting post.

So today i've had a fairly quiet today, the sun was shining and I wish that I had got the energy to go and sit in the sun but unfortunately I just didn't feel like doing it. I woke up this morning feeling sick, being sick, and being really tired. So my dad and Jack took the dogs for a walk with me, while my mum came around to try and help me sort out BT (I think that she eventually got there). I attempted to cook breakfast all though it ended up being bacon and sausage sandwiches rather than a full english breakfast like I'd planned to do for Jack.

This afternoon we went out today the jobs that we had got to do, which included paying livery for Bella and Arthur and checking on them. Although it took them a while to decide they wanted to come down from the top of the hill and stop lying in the sun, they did eventually come down and if I do say so myself I think that they are both looking fairly good at the moment.

I then went to my mum and dads to watch the grand national, my horse was so close to winning but had a knock at the last hurdle after being first for basically the entire race. It just wasn't quite Rogue Angels year this year but I still fell in love with the name. Magic enjoyed a full day out in the sun so i didn't actually see him today, but I will do tomorrow and will get you all more pictures.  I'm now off to go and get food as it's about to finish being cooked.

So for that I'll leave you all to it and I'll be back tomorrow.

car desensitisation

Thursday, 6 April 2017
So as I'm sure that you will all remember I used to walk Magic out all the time on the road. Unfortunately he then got poorly, so we had to stop doing this as at one point he was on box rest with literally no walks. So today for the first time in ages I took advantage of the sunny day and we went on our first 'walk out' of the year. It wasn't long but it was good and it was well behaved. Lynn has quite a long drive way down to the farm, so to get Magic used to traffic again we walked to the top of the drive and then stood for a few minutes.

Both my mum and jack were there to make him feel more comfortable with this and we took it entirely at Magic's pace. Allowing him to look at things but encouraging him to move on and not just stand still and freak out. We stood at the top of the drive for 5-6 minutes and just let him see what was coming and going until he was feeling much calmer and was happy to stand and trim the grass by the pavement!

We then walked politely back down to the yard before doing something normal and walking around the caravans. Something that he has grown very good at. Since his poorly episode earlier in the year and the end of last year Magic is doing a million times better. He's calm, confident and a hundred times better.

Today I sent his pictures and videos to an online friend that hasn't seen anything he's done since he's been getting better and she said that she was so impressed with him. That he was looking better and much happier and has advised me more about the bitting process. She's been a really good friend since I owned Magic and has always helped me out as much as possible, so when ever I have any questions she is one of the first people that I go to.

I'm so proud of Magic's progress and think that he is really coming on. I haven't yet got around to putting his video of walking on youtube yet, so once I've done that I'll up load the video to here, but that will more than likely be tomorrow now. So on that Note I will leave you with some pictures of my ever growing beautiful boy.
My pretty by isn't such a baby, with his bridle on, he's starting to look more and more grown up every day.

Well it has been a few days since my last post, I have wanted to post but unfortunately I've been unable to due to the fact that BT are awful. So I'm currently having arguments with them to do with why they can't provide the service that I am paying for. It's so frustrating and so annoying on my behalf.

Magic is doing GREAT, he's turning in to a really lovely not so little horse. He's friendly, polite and always willing to learn, he's also completely past his food aggression phase and will now leave his food to come and look at you and have a fuss before going back to his food. It's taken a long time to get him to this point but now that he is here I am so happy about how he is doing. The most important part is how gentle and loving he is, I'm so impressed with him. Below are some pictures.

My internet is now playing up again so I'm going to have to leave it at this quick short post for today.

a brief update

Sunday, 2 April 2017
Hello everyone,

Okay so it's been a really long time since I posted but this time it's not been because I was too tired or because I couldn't be bothered, it's been because I physically couldn't. So some of you that have me on facebook will know that I actually moved houses on the 8th March, this meant lots of decorating and actually left us without broadband for nearly three and a half weeks, when it should have been two weeks. BT have turned out to be a complete night mare but we have now finally got everything up and running, so I've spent the first couple of days catching up with my emails and the essential things and I am now getting back in to blogging both on here and my oriflame beauty blog.

So we now have a two bed flat that's quite spacious, the dogs enjoy having more room to run around and play, I enjoy having more room and room to actually put things where they belong, which isn't always the easiest of tasks, and Jack enjoys having room to play on his playstation without the background noise of my T.V. driving him insane.

We spent the first week completely decorating the flat, every room had it's own colour scheme but I was determined to get a room done at a time so that I could slowly unpack everything  and get rid of all the boxes. The first room that I got done was the front room, the colour scheme in there was all chocolate browns and beiges, we go the T.V on the wall and some lovely crushed velvet curtains that my mum made. The next room that we did was the bathroom, as I love bedrooms that are quite dark the colour scheme in here was black and red. The third room that we did was the kitchen, jack and I made a deal that I could have a pink kitchen if he could have a yellow bathroom, so my kitchen is bubblegum lilac and pink, while the bathroom is bright yellow and navy. While i initially wasn't keen on the bathroom it has slowly warmed to me.

The dogs are now enjoying the fact that they get to go out more often and get two walks a day for about an hour every day. They then also get walked by me in the evening, during the two walks that jack comes on they get to go off the lead and chase after the balls. When I take them we walk around the roads and they have to stay on the leads and walk nicely. They're having lots of training done at the moment and are becoming lovely well behaved dogs.

Magic is doing really well, he's now out all day without a rug. He's happy he's having no health problems and he is growing really nicely. He's calm and much better when being handled and has basically lost his entire food aggression, he still has days where he feels quite arsey about it but they are coming few and far between so that makes me happy. He gets complimented on how he is starting to look and I'm hoping this year to really start working with him and developing his skills. While he has had time to be a baby, it'll soon be time for him to start working and developing himself.

58. two days in a row :)

Monday, 27 February 2017
Well this is the second day in a row that I have got to write on my blog, they say if you do something 30 times in a row it becomes a habit, so maybe if I write on here 30 days in a row then it will become a habit to.

So what have I done today? The main answer to that is not a lot, I didn't get a good nights sleep so was absolutely shattered when I woke up. We chilled out and watched T.V. for a while this morning then my mum came over and helped me to fix one set of my draws. I also finished doing the drying, packed up the rest of the extra clothes that I am not wearing at the moment.

We then went to see Magic and gave him his food and some fuss, he'd had a Duvet day because the weather was that horrible. So he had a nice big haynet and his tea. I then popped in to see my mum and dad for a little bit before coming home. Where I have since chilled out, watched T.V. and cooked tea for my partner and me.

I haven't got a lot to say today, I'm tired and had enough of listening to my boyfriends stupid party on the playstation.

57. Not such a big gap this time

Sunday, 26 February 2017
Well it has only been two days since I last posted, I'm definitely making more of an effort and even though it's nearly 11pm and I should probably be curled up in bed so that I actually get an earlier than normal night. Today's been a hectic day, it was supposed to be a quiet, but that didn't quiet work out. My mum did Magic this morning, like she does every morning, and he was very good for her. Then I woke up at around lunch time, after another night where I didn't go to sleep until about 3 or maybe even 4am.

When I woke up I chilled out on the playstation for a little bit, playing new games on the new tv, it's HUGE. After Jack and I had properly woken up we took the dogs for a walk, they were so funny to watch. Diesel loves to play with sticks and Casper loves to play with balls. So we took a foot ball and an old bat and the dogs played with that, it was hilarious watching them both on an end of the bat watching them both run together. We then bought them back to the flat, sticking of wet dog, soaking wet and muddy to hell.

We then went to B&M to get the dogs some dog food and some bits for the new flat. I got a 'Memories' photo frame, I love it, Jack's not a fan of photographs so he's not really bothered by it. I got a key holder in the shape of a key, I think it looks quite cool to be fair, it'll go in the kitchen and might be the final answer to me not losing my keys!

After this we went to see Magic, he's such a good boy, and his knee has gone down loads. It's still a little bit swollen but after a day out and about, moving around the swelling appears to have gone down loads. I'll keep an eye on it though. I gave him his food, gave him a fuss and then went to see my mum and uncle at my mums house for a little bit.

When we got him I decided it was time to get my butt in to gear. It's a week and two days until we move and intend to have everything organised and ready for the night before so that the day that we move we can go and get the keys, go get connor, then get everything packed up, and get everything moved in to the new flat. So today I mega cleaned the bathroom, so that I won't have to do it again. I sorted out the final bits that I can pack (things that were on top of cupboards) and then cleaned down the kitchen. So the only things that I really have left to do is sort out the cupboards that have got food in, sort out the fridge, move everything out of the flat and then hoover the floor. That sounds so simple when I write it like that but we all know that things never really go to plan!

I'm not sure what the plan is for tomorrow, probably sort Magic, walk the dogs and then chill out, but who knows what the day will bring.

On that note I'm off to let the dogs out, and watch Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

55. why does life always get in the way

Friday, 24 February 2017
I really want to keep writing my blog, I've had this blog for a long time and it's been a great outlet for how I'm feeling, for growing as a person, and for developing my knowledge as a horse owner/rider. But sometimes life just gets in the way! I want to blog, I want to sit down in an evening and chill out and write things on here but half the time by the time that I have done the jobs that I need to do and get on my laptop I feel exhausted, then the next day comes and the same thing happens. So while my blogging may not be consistent I do feel like I want to keep blogging and will keep taking every spare opportunity that i get to blog.

So life is good here, magic is great. He's had a bump to his knee, so his knee is quite swollen at the minute but we think we realised where all these bumps are coming from. For whatever reason Magic stumbles when he gets up, and finds it hard to get up some times, so then he knocks himself on walls, or doors or anything that is really in his way. So on Tuesday or it might have been wednesday we made Magic the bed of all beds, it is MASSIVE. My yard owner suggested putting a deep litter bed in for him, now you all know that I am not a fan of deep beds, I like nice, pretty, fluffy shavings beds. But she said I could have a big round bale of straw for £20. She said i probably wouldn't get it all in but I could put the extra in bags. Well Jack, being Jack, decided that he could put the WHOLE bale in and to be fair it did go in. So he's now got a very big, very nice comfy bed. Honestly I would happily sleep in it.

What else is new with me, i'm going to be moving flats on the 8th of March. Instead of being in a 1 room bed sit flat I'm going to be in a 2 bed room flat and I can not wait. I'm looking forward to having lots more room. I'm looking forward to decorating and getting a new flat, making it ours, making it not just a flat but an actual home, with all the mad little decoration things in it. I've got colour schemes for all the rooms all though I'm not sure what I think about the bathroom at the moment. I won't spoil the surprise but all I will say is that it's Jack's choice of colours.

On the note I'm now off to curl up in bed with my puppies, the perfect end to a good day is curling up with diesel and casper.

Until Next Time

41. kicking my arse in to gear.

Friday, 10 February 2017
Hi Everyone,

Well it's been a while since I wrote on here, I keep meaning to get back in to blogging but it just doesn't happen, the most annoying part is that everyday I think about blogging, and that I need to write something and then something comes along. So what's been going on? Well, life has been quite hectic at the moment, things haven't been the best the past couple of weeks, but they are starting to kind of look up.

So I'll start with Magic, Magic is doing great! He's finally back out with the herd and he is loving every single moment of it. He goes out first thing in the morning and then some days I will bring him in early at anywhere between 1 and 2 and then other days he will stay out with the rest until between 3 and 4. I feel that he still needs to come in early so that he realises that he can come in on his own and that it's nothing to be stressed or worried about. He still gets walked in hand by my mum when she does him in the morning and by me when I do him in the evening. He loves being fussed and groomed and is back to being really good while he is eating again. He's showing constant signs of improvement and no signs of being in pain or discomfort anymore, he's much less arched over his back and standing much more square. He's growing in to a very polite, loving and gentle horse with a very soft eye.

What's next? I can't remember whether I told you guys about Arthur and Bella that I am looking after, I think that I did, but I am not 100% sure about this. Well after having nothing but problems with the horrible people that Nicki was renting the field from, tomorrow they will move to new grazing, where I am hoping that they will be much happier and enjoy it much more. While this week has been full of drama trying to deal with the people, I will be so glad once the ponies are moved and I know that they are safe and happier.

Casper and Diesel are doing great, they are also very loving and caring. While Diesel is more interested in spending the majority of his time either by my feet or just cm's apart from where I am. Casper is much more independent out of the two of them but he still enjoys coming for cuddles. Diesel can finally be walked without a lead on, as long as you have something to catch his attention with, the majority of the time a ball that he can play with. He's also finally learnt to 'wait' and to drop the ball until another ball is thrown for him.

I can't think of anything new and exciting to tell you guys, so on that note I'm going to head off and carry on watching the soaps. I'm also going to hope for no more snow!

Until Next Time,

23. Dad's Birthday and Horse Antics

Monday, 23 January 2017
So today was my dad's birthday so I had to wake jack up early, well early for him but late for most other people, before we went to meet my mum, dad and robert at the Bridge Inn, my favourite pub for food in the world! It is AMAZING! I had the smothered chicken in BBQ sauce with chips, it's chicken, bacon, and melted cheese, with BBQ sauce over the top of it and Jack had BBQ ribs and chicken with chips, (my) onion rings and corn on the cob, and as normally we split it in half and had half of each others.

After this I went to do some jobs for Nicki (my new boss and friend) I went to get the wormers for Arthur and Bella, as well as a bag of ready mash for them. Then went to see Magic, who is doing great. Today was his first day in as they all stayed in, tomorrow he will go out on his own and then Wednesday he'll start off out on his own and then I'll move him over to the other field later in the day. I gave him a quick brush, picked all four feet up (he's getting really good at this), walked him then popped him back in his stable with two full haynets and his tea. After this I popped down to sort out Bella and Arthur and give them their feed with the wormers in, as well as a quick fuss and hello.

We then popped to try and get me some new flat shoes but unfortunately there was none that I liked yet, so left that and came home to curl up with the puppies. Now I'm chilling out watching random programmes on T.V.

I'm now off to read a book.

Until Tomorrow

Monday, 16 January 2017
Sorry for the lack of posting over the past few days, things have been pretty boring and I have had nothing spectacular to write about, so I have chose not to right about anything. So what's new here, the first thing that is new is......

I sent off my work in between Christmas day and New Years Day, I got an email on the 10th saying that they were part way through checking my work and that it should be completed soon then on the 14th I got an email to say that I had passed my level one and could start my level 2! I got my scores back and there was 56 questions and I only got 6 questions wrong, I was so excited about this and I proved to myself that I know more about horse care than I actually thought that I did, now all that I need to do is pass my Level 2! I proved to myself that all I really need to do is believe in myself.

Magic is doing really really well, I now have a Magi-cam so i can keep my eye on Magic when i am not there! As you will see there are a couple of videos in this post, this is the work that I am doing with Magic along with my mum as part of magic's rehabilitation/recovery. I need to do this to get the strength back in his back but also to strengthen his stifle. He's also slowly but surely being introduced to wearing a bridle. While my mum choses not to walk him in a bridle I walk him in a bridle every other day. Then the day that he is not walked he goes out in the field. It has been doing him really good to have his turnout time but also to carry on being walked, he's learning some really good ground manners, is normally generally calm and quiet to be walked, and has even started to learn to be trotted in hand properly.

All my videos of magic and I can be found on my youtube channel all you have to do is click HERE to go straight to my channel. There you will be able to see all the videos of work that Magic and I do, as well as the fun messing around that Magic and I do. The dogs are both great, Casper is calm and chilled out and well Diesel is a cheeky monkey that just loves lots of cuddles all the time, he's a very affectionate dog but at the same time I would say that he spends a lot of his time questioning whether he's in the right, so I'd say he can be quite insecure.

I can't think what else to say and I'm feeling quite sore at the minute as went to the dentist earlier and had to have quite a strong amount of freezing and then 40 minutes work on 2 teeth, so I'm quite tired and achey, and it's safe to say I did not enjoy the experience. So on that note I'm going to head off and I will be back on tomorrow :).

Until Tomorrow
Amber, Magic, Casper and Diesel.

8. New year, new start?

Sunday, 8 January 2017
Every year it gets to the new year and people go it's a 'fresh start' or it's a 'new me' however personally I don't always think this is true, so that's why this year I haven't said that all I have said it's time to improve myself. Last year and to be honest the year before have not been good years for me, but I'm not going to let that hold me back anymore!

So on to my news, Magic is doing really well. He actually managed to go out in the field for a small amount of time today, still not with others, but he was out in a field being a normal horse. The vets came to see him on friday and said that he's looking great! They were really happy with his progress, he's now completely off all of his medication and while he's really to be on minimal turnout for at least the next two weeks it's a step in the right direction. We've got to do lots of walking in hand, lots of just in hand things bascially. He's now also been bridled and for the past week has walked out in hand with a bridle on and he has taken to it really well. He's been such a good boy and tomorrow i'll be able to check on him while i'm not there, this is due to the fact that he'll be having my present put up in his stable. I've got a web cam type camera to put up in his stable that allows me to be able to check on him while i'm not there. He'll be walked in hand more, he'll go over the poles more, soon I will start to give him proper turnout and slowly increase the amount of time that he's allowed to be turned out for. Then once he has been turned out he will have to come in for half an hour or so while the others are out, so he stays used to the fact that he can come in while the others are still out, then I'll pop him back out again, I think this will do him lots of good.

So on to my news, I'm hopefully going to be moving and starting a new job soon, it's quite a long story as to how the opportunity came about, but I have been offered a job by a lovely lady as a live in groom, i'll get paid my wages and then i'll have livery for two horses, my accommodation and bills paid for and I just need to buy my food, as well as plenty of room for my two dogs to run around! The place that I am moving to will have 42 stables and is roughly 43 acres, Jack has also been offered a job for maintenance. So we will both be working, and I'll also get to be around my horse more. As long as all goes to plan we will be moving around the end of march.

Anyway I'm feeling quite sleepy now and I am having quite a rough time with my stomach, so for now I'm off to get some sleep and chill out. Until Next Time.
