Jumping Gatsby - 1st December 2014 and Pony Club.

Yesterday I rode Gatsby again, it's getting to the time of year where my monday rides mean it's already going dark when I get on Gatsby so unfortunately I have no video's from my lesson. My dad also came to watch my lesson with Gatsby which was really nice, as he hasn't been in a while although after he told me that he was quite apprehensive watching me jumping Gatsby as compared to last time we have got a lot faster jumping and the whole process is going a lot smoother.  Above you can see a diagram of the jumping that Gatsby and I did, while it was only two jumps and neither of them were that big it was important for me to do as it made me focus more on my striding, turning, getting the correct lead after the jump or if i didn't being able to change the lead and set myself up for the next jumping. We started off by picking the canter up by K (doing walk to canter transitions), I then cantered around past A, turning to jump the jump that is on 'X',...

bit of a catch up :)

Hiya guys,  Well tomorrow I get to go and see Jack again and I can't wait. you'll all know that he was originally in Portland young offenders well he has now moved a little bit closer to home and is in one in wolverhampton! I get to see him Saturday and Sunday again but the advantage is that I don't have to sit in a car five hours there and five hours back, and I get to come home and sleep in my own bed after seeing him! The disadvantage is that I don't get to go to Enzo's Italian which is a really nice restaurant in Weymouth!  Now on to the riding front. Gatsby and I are doing great, we now have a jumping lesson on a monday every other week and flat lesson or pole work every saturday :D. It's building my stamina up loads more and we're getting a lot further with our jumping so it's really nice. Gatsby has finally got his own made to fit saddle to! I rode him in it on Saturday and it felt great, he was much happier over his back and a lot more w...

I'm Back!

Sorry guys I know it's been quite a while but to be honest I just haven't been in that much recently and then when I have been in I've been too tired to do any blogging. But I'm trying to sort out and get the blogger app working on my phone so that I can update on the move.  Well life on the riding front is slowly moving forward, we haven't done any excessive work recently firstly because of the heat that we have had (it's just been too hot to work the horse) and when it's not been red hot we've had bad storms here! Secondly because Gats, hasn't been 100% sound. He's developed arthritis in his pastern in his front legs and the joints are fusing together in his hock on both back legs. He's also had the chiropractor out to adjust his back and he is now being rode in a dressage saddle that is being temporarily loaned to him until Jenny buys him a new one (we could be waiting a while). But he's working really well in this new saddle and ...

Nan, nurses and an aching back.

The nurse came out to see nan again today because her mobility has gotten so bad that she can't even walk now, so me and mum have been pushing her around on a wheeled foot rest! It does the job for the time being but it is not the best solution, so when the nurse came out she agreed to get nan pressure release cushions and a mattress as well as a wheel chair to move nan around in. Unfortunately with Nan not feeling well and not being able to move herself around it has meant that mum or me or occasionally both of us are having to lift my nan up to move her, and while my nan's not the heaviest person in the world it really does make your arms/back ache and it is also really tiring.  Gatsby should have had his back looked at it today, so when I know how that went I will be sure to let you all know! It could also mean that Gatsby is getting a dressage saddle, so that will be quite interesting!  There's nothing else really to talk about so I am going to curl up and get ...

Theory Tests, Blood Tests and Equine Nutrition Tests!

Today I have done absolutely nothing, I slept in this morning not getting up til lunch time because I was feeling rough, (my nephew had a stomach bug when I went over to stop last week and I think I've got some of that) and when I did get up I spent time doing last week's work on my Equine Nutrition course and tomorrow I will start this weeks, unfortunately this is the last week but then March 25th I'll be starting a photography course! My mum had to take my Brother to have some blood tests as they want to keep an eye on his white blood cells (I think) and she tried to take him to our local blood test clinic in the morning but they changed their starting times, so she was taking him to our main hospital in the afternoon and as my Dad was at work and my Uncle was away today I said that I would stay in and look after Nan. She slept the majority of the time other than when her phone rang and then she woke up. Just before my mum got in she asked me to make her a boiled egg...
