The way to heaven is on horseback

Hiya Everyone,  Well it's been a while since I post but things have been really hectic, between Uni and Riding there is not much time for anything else. So first of all I thought I would tell you all about riding Gatsby and a special surprise ;).  Well i started off my lesson riding my all time favourite Gatsby, we decided that we were going to work on riding without stirrups as this is something that I was doing a lot of but haven't done in a while and seen as I'm feeling a lot more confident I decided that it was time to do it again and I have video's for you all :). We warmed up in walk and trot, doing small amounts of leg yield and working on keeping both Gatsby and I straight. The outline came a lot easier this time, and we managed to get it in walk and trot and best of all we were maintaining it through transitions and for the majority of the hour. Today was my last riding lesson of the holidays before I go back to school and then will only be riding on Saturdays again but I will be trying to get up on occasional Mondays to help Elaine out. I started off by grooming Gatsby and surprisingly he wasn't that muddy again, is this a sign that spring is around the corner? But just as I was getting used to that idea it started to snow, turning Gatsby's back from black to white, it soon stopped with only occasional flakes of snow. Because he was so clean I decided that I was going to attempt to plait his tail, that didn't last for long and really didn't work so in the end I gave in and just tacked him up, one day I will be able to plait his tail just not today!  I started off by giving Gatsby a good ten minutes on a long rein allowing him to stretch and warm his muscles up before gradually picking up the contact and bringing him into a nice outline with a forward going walk, although I think that it could still do wit...

Hey everyone  Sorry to disappoint but this is not a serious update with lots of things on for you all! sorry :( But it is to let you know that after my riding lesson tomorrow afternoon i will be updating to tell you all about how the riding lesson going but also something that i think a lot of you will find interesting, well i know i find it interesting. I have got all the pictures together to do a 'changes in gatsby' page, this will not only show the changes in how he feels to be rode, and the outline that he works in but it will also show the changes in weight as at one point gatsby was underweight and people are now working hard to get him back in to shape but ALSO to get him back to a healthier weight. hey y'all. sorry its taken me so long to reply I have been meaning to do it for days, and kept thinking 'I need to update'. Then I look at my laptop and think what was it that I needed to do. Well here I am back again with new things to tell you all.  First of all is my riding lesson that I went to on Tuesday, I rode a 17/18hh horse that looks like a brown shire horse, and he is called Jerry, He was at my old riding school called 'Parkside' in Alfreton. (There will be pictures of him to follow later). We went for what was supposed to be a quiet hack out around Alfreton park at least this is what it started out as. The first quarter of the ride was calm until we got into the woods where there were four idiotic boys, messing around with fire crackers as you do! Then followed the horses down and tried spooking the horses on the road that goes through the park.
