Riding Gatsby in a field - 5th July 2014 - VIDOES!

Hiya guys sorry it's been a while again,  well I had the most amazing lesson on Gatsby that I have had in a while on Saturday. I'd got the cutest card ever off my boyfriend that morning which just put me in a good mood and I knew I wanted to do some jumping with Gatsby on the Saturday. I told Fiona I was feeling really positive to which she replied where do you want to jump in the school or in the field. We decided to do some jumping in the open field and omg it was amazing! It felt so different but soo good as well. It was something that I had never done before and something that I can't wait to do again. To start with I just had to get used to how much more excitable and powerful Gatsby felt. He used so many different muscles to ones that I've ever used before. We started off walking around the field (which is on a slight hill) and then we moved on to doing some trot work. I had to adjust to keeping him balanced going uphill and down hill because eventually I wou...

Dressage Test Practice.

Why is it when you think that you are going to do a dressage test, your brain freezes up, you can't think and you tense up? Well that was exactly what happened today. When we got there we all got given the tests that we would do I got to do a British Young Riders Dressage Scheme 'C Squad' test. This test included Walk, Trot, Canter, serpentines, 20m Circles and half 20m circles. We walked through our tests first and I noticed just how much canter work I would actually be doing and I think that this is the thing that I was most nervous about. When we had walked the test, we then tacked up the horses that we would be riding, we tacked up Gatsby, Rascal and Rocky. I rode Gatsby, JaimieLeigh rode Rascal and Mollie started off riding Rosie but then later switched to riding Rocky and JaimieLeigh got on Gatsby.  In walk all the horses was fine, Gatsby was active and stretching, he was responsive and listening well. Rascal and Rosie were also fine. JaimieLeigh and I are used t...

Outline Work

Today was a really good day at the stables, when I got there like normal I spent some time hugging and grooming Gatsby. When I got on the thing that I had to make sure that I was doing from the start was moving my hips and not restricting the movement. He was forward and so much more responsive, he was good to ride and you could see that he was listening and that was the best part.  When I asked him to move in to an outline he did it willingly and easily, it felt so nice to be able to do it without having to over think it. Fiona commented saying that we were doing well and to ask for more. I knew I could push him for more but I didn't know how much more I could push him. The moment I started to push him more it felt amazing, it was so easy to do and I realised that the key to getting it easier was to drop the weight down the back of my arms. It was so much easier than I thought it was going to be but it was so effective, all though by the end of it my arms were starting to rea...

A fab ride on Gatsby

Today has been another good but long day, I still didn't sleep well but I've been busy all day today so I am hoping that I will sleep better (although I do have an early start tomorrow). This morning I woke up and just watched tv and did some reading as I hadn't got any plans for the morning.  This afternoon was busy but fun. I had my first driving lesson with my new driving teacher and it went really well! He asked me what I knew how to do and I told him the things that I knew. We then started driving and he said that he wanted to do assess my driving. We had been driving for a little while and he said that what we were doing was too easy for me so we moved on to doing hill starts and things like that. It went really well, and he said that I can do my test soon, and I should only need 10 lessons. Then I can drive by myself and tomorrow I will be hearing more about how my car is doing, hopefully I will get it back towards the end of the week!  After this I went up ...

A hectic weekend...

Ok its time to actually write a decent length post, while I have not been posting the past few days I have been reading everyone's blogs and would like to say that my thoughts are with L over at Viva Carlos during this tough time that she is going through.   On Friday it was ny nans funeral, while it was a sad occasion I loved being able to see everyone, including my irish cousins that went home today. We went to the crematorium for 3:08pm and emotions were running high. But I had my best friend there to support me and I really appreciated it. We then went back to Horsley lodge for the wake. It was so long afternoon but we had some really nice chats with different people that we would not see very often. Evie their came back to mine for the night because of personal things in her life, she will be with me until at least Tuesday.  Saturday I got to see my big fella and Evie got to meet him for the second time. My cousins also got to meet him and see me ride. We were ori...

Lesson on Gatsby, and some amazing news :)

Today was a lesson riding Gatsby, I was soo excited there's something about this horse that just makes me want to ride to my best ability. I groomed him and brushed him until he was all soft and shiny which wasn't easy because he's legs are not clipped so they tend to get covered in mud. Then it was time to get on Gatsby and I had got a lesson to myself as Jaimie-leigh wasn't there. We decided that I was going to work even harder on my canter work and get Gatsby and me really working.  The lesson started off really well, with Gatsby walking on a loose rein really stretching out, and Fiona asked me if it was okay with both me and my mum if she could use pictures of me and Gatsby riding for her business cards and posters, of course we said yes and it was funny because Gatsby started nodding his head as if he was saying yes too. We then started picking up a contact and he started working in a really nice outline, you could see his muscles working and he felt soo good!...

Finally an Update

Sorry guys, the past two days have been quite busy. Friday I ordered my first thing for uni and that was a new Kipling Bag, I love those bags and think that they just last for a really long time as well as being practical, and looking good which is always important and another good thing about this bag is the fact that it was on offer! EEPPPPP!  This is the bag and of course it is in pink, because by now I am sure that you will all have guessed that my favourite colour is pink. I then went to my local youth group on friday night and had originally planned on updating my blog when I got in however my best friend Evie asked if I could stop at hers for the night as she wanted me to help pick a song for her Baptism, needless to say we never got round to it, maybe next time we will actually remember instead we put some films on and curled up with her dogs. We then couldn't stop laughing because we decided that we wanted to watch Catwoman and every single time that a cat meowed ...
