Lunging with a cavesson session one

So today I took the plunge and went to get magic a lunge cavesson after doing a fair bit of research into it last night. I figured I needed a little bit of help with magics lunging not because he is naughty but because he is green. Some days we will have a really good lunge session, hell be foot perfect and we can get walk and trot work (we haven't started on canter yet). Other days he will do two or three good strides and then decide to stop and then stand there and stare at me or he'll try and decide that he is going the opposite way. Now I know that this isn't really him being naughty it is just him being a baby. So we will keep working on this. However I have also looked in to how I can use this to work on his ground work. The main thing that we need to work on is trotting in hand, and standing and waiting as these are not necessarily magics strong point but in time he will get there.  Above you can see magic lunging today. I will be the first to admit that today...

an update on the best horse in the world

okay so it's been quite a while since I've posted on here, I think that it would be honest to say that I can't really remember the last time that I've posted on here, but as I took the opportunity to enjoy the snowy scenery and take some photographs of magic, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to get back in to regularly posting. So Magic is coming on really well, he has changed loads over the past year, and is becoming a very gentle giant. At just over two and a half years old, he's already standing at over 16.2hh, and he's now starting to chunk out nicely as well. We currently lunge twice a week, we are doing more walking out on the roads and slowly introducing him to new things. Of course I have cuteness overload in the form of pictures for you all. I am so happy that magic is also coming in to winter nicely, I'll have to admit that after last winter I was a little bit nervous that he would be poorly again but he hasn't been! He's got a...

41. kicking my arse in to gear.

Hi Everyone,  Well it's been a while since I wrote on here, I keep meaning to get back in to blogging but it just doesn't happen, the most annoying part is that everyday I think about blogging, and that I need to write something and then something comes along. So what's been going on? Well, life has been quite hectic at the moment, things haven't been the best the past couple of weeks, but they are starting to kind of look up.  So I'll start with Magic, Magic is doing great! He's finally back out with the herd and he is loving every single moment of it. He goes out first thing in the morning and then some days I will bring him in early at anywhere between 1 and 2 and then other days he will stay out with the rest until between 3 and 4. I feel that he still needs to come in early so that he realises that he can come in on his own and that it's nothing to be stressed or worried about. He still gets walked in hand by my mum when she does him in the mor...

63. Horrible weather but lots of time with my midnight magic

Yesterday was a long day and I just completely forgot to get around to posting it so I'll post this now because even though it's 5.48am, I'm lying in bed wide awake but God knows why. Within about 30 minutes of waking up jack and I were up and about and ready to go out and do the jobs that we need doing. One of the main good points about Magics new yard is that he goes out with the rest of the herd.  And part of the deal that was made with loan was that she'll put him out and bring him back in so that he never really goes out on his own, seen as he normally goes out at about 9.30 am it means that i don't really see him in the morning and I get a bit of a lie in. But the first job that I do when we go out is go up to the yard and muck his stable out so that he has a nice warm bed for when he gets in. I'll also sort his feed out for the next two feeds but I will only add water to the one that he'll have that night. Kisses from the pony face. This morning ...

17. Fun in the snow photo post

I'm not feeling like writing a lot today so ive decided to just post lots of photos of magic in the snow for the first time. Until Next time Amber and Magic My boy is definitely not camera shy.  Again you will be able to see that Magic is going very bum high at the minute, I haven't measured him in a few days so I'll do that tomorrow.  Silly faces magics first time playing in the snow Jack says this reminds him of the Lloyd's advert Kisses with my babyyyyy He follows me like a sheep Running to see me One of my favourites.  My boy is very photogenic and loves the camera, I want this photo on a canvas or my phone case

we have snow!

Well it's Boxing Day and today has been a really good day, as is tradition in our family my sister came over today with her partner and my little nephew for a meal and some awesome family time. She was on one but that is just what my sister is like she tends to go on one about lots of random different things.  We had no snow yesterday but today it HAS started snowing, people will know that I do not always have a good record with snow, I am very clumsy and always tend to fall over when it starts snowing, the last time we had snow I spent two full days looking for a miniature shetland pony that had gone missing (the pony was found safe and sound), before that it snowed and I tripped on a patch of Black Ice and broke my hand in three places. So it's safe to say when it starts snowing I start thinking 'OMG'. However this year I am looking forward to it because it would be an interesting time to take some wicked snow photographs. So tomorrow I am on a mission to get sno...

Snow's due

Well not a lot has been going on in my life so i've not got much to update you all on. I've been thinking about my negotiated project for University and what subject I might like to choose for it but I've still not decided fully yet. Other than that I've been spending time with Jack and a few other good friends. It's been nice to just chill out and have nothing to stress about.  They've given out snow for tonight so we will see in the morning whether or not we get any snow, if we do there will be pictures!  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

snow... I hate the stuff!

Well I haven't done a lot today other than helping my mum to do some jobs and helping to look after my Nan, who has now decided that she wants someone sitting with her 24/7, so this could be a very interesting weekend.  Last night it started to snow but during the course of the day all the roads cleared and it was just sleet it wasn't properly snowing, so I was really excited that I was going to be riding tomorrow, but as the evening went on the sleet turned to snow and the snow flakes got bigger and bigger and bigger. They were settling everywhere, I live in the countryside and all the roads around where I lived were just turning white! I'm really glad that we don't live in a country that has snow all year round! I'd hate that! As I said to my Dad earlier I wish that it would either chuck it down and settle or not snow at all I don't like it when it's in that in between stage and it becomes icy and slippery.  Unfortunately earlier in the evening I ...

I love my Hair!

Okay so I wanted to share with you all a couple of better pictures of my hair, the last picture wasn't the best of me or my hair and made it look a lot darker that it actually is! I originally have quite dark hair so getting a purple that will suit my hair colour and actually change to a vivid purple can be quite difficult and the last couple of times at the hair dressers its faded and not looked how I wanted it to look. This time I got my mum to do it and she will do it again before my sixth form ball. I'm so excited!  Today has been another fairly uneventful day, I wasn't in school this morning as there was no room in the conservatory and the art exam was still going on. So there was no point in me going in to sit and do nothing. So this morning I washed my hair and got it to shine and be all silky, I love it. (The pictures were taken in my Nan's room as me and my mum were helping her to do a job and then realised how bright it looked because the lighting in t...

Art and Illness

It's been a few days since I have been able to post, and here is why. I have had a really saw throat, since before christmas my dad has had the bug that has been going around everybody, where you get the painful throat, no voice and feeling sick and rough as well. Well Sunday night my throat started really hurting and I was feeling really rough and just didn't know what was up. Well my voice has got progressively worse, If I talk for any longer than a few minutes then all you can hear is me croaking. I haven't even managed to get in to school yet this week, I am hoping to get into school tomorrow, as I really need to show my art teacher my work so that he can see kind of where I am wanting to head with my art work.  Seen as I haven't managed to get in to school this week I have printed out the photographs that I needed for my project and mounted them up this took two sheets of A1 Black card. I then did some paintings these were images that I found on the internet a...

Frozen toe's, two horses, wet socks and soo much fun :)

Today I got to work with two different horses, but in total we used four horses. The snow came thick and heavy last night, and at one point riding wasn't an option. The roads were full of snow, you couldn't drive on them and it was just getting worse. This morning mum text my teacher, Fiona, to ask if the lesson was still on and it was, as long as we could get there and mums new car did get us there without complaining about the snow although the roads were no where near being clear. When we got there I had 40 minutes to play with Gatsby and groom him and it felt weird to groom him with hardly any mud on but it was fun, and he was being playful including letting me stroke his ears which is something he used to love but something he now HATES! He didn't like it but he let me do it and because he did that he got rewarded with lots of Carrots! He was a happy boy after that :'). Then I tacked him up only putting on his boots and borrowing Elaine's horse, Soloman...

Dancing Queen

After the day I have had today the song 'Dancing Queen' by Abba seems to fit quite nicely with my day. This afternoon mums car came back, they had removed the 'third pedal/second accelerator' and they had also taken all the loose cabling stopping it from messing around with the radio which should mean that the Radio and central panel won't have any more problems with them. The car was supposed to be back for 10am so that we could do all the jobs in it at once fill it up with petrol and do the shopping, but mum got told that we wouldn't have her car back til 1pm and then it became 1:30 they might make they're mind up one day, and actually stick with it. So this meant that this morning we went to do the shopping and then later in the afternoon we went to fill the car up with petrol making what should have been one trip became two trips.  We then decided to wash both my mum and dads car so that the grit and salt that has been on the road does not effect th...

No horse time but a pic of Gatsby

Well so far there has been no Gatsby time :( this is one of the main reasons why I hate snow because there might not even be any Gatsby time this weekend, as where I ride now we haven't got an indoor school yet :( but hopefully that is going to come some time this year, making the winter days a little easier to ride in. So today i put a BBM status that I was going to be gutted if it snowed much more cause i wouldn't be able to ride then I went on facebook and found i was tagged in a picture and thought ohh  this is weird only to find someone had put a picture of Gatsby on for my to ride.  Gatsby says hello hope your enjoying the snow I know for a fact my feet don't like this horrible white stuff. Tomorrows post will be longer but tonight I am really tired and just want to curl up and sleep, which is odd because I got a lot of sleep last night/this morning. Tomorrow I have a hospital appointment, and as long as we can get there and its not cancelled because it is snow...

First Bit of Snow here in the UK.

Well Last night, I walked out the door with my mum to go and fetch my brother and said 'at least it hasn't started snowing yet' then I looked outside and went 'Damn I spoke to early at this time it was only very small almost pea size snow flakes that were coming down but they were starting to settle, my first thought was oh no here comes the Hazard zone, it might sound mad but me and snow DO NOT go together at all. Two years ago on the first day of it being snowy, I managed to fall over and break my hand and damn was it painful, I was soooo annoyed, and ever since then I just haven't liked snow, it causes too much of a hazard to me. However I do think that snow looks pretty, the snow kept coming all night and settled, cancelling my plans to go out with friends today as the roads were to icy and not what we are used to.  Then when we were watching Morning TV it got me really thinking, any other country when it snows they keep going, and don't come to a compl...
