The list Part 1

Well I was reading a really interesting post that can be found  here on Equestrian Journey's Blog  and thought that I might have to copy the idea of the list, as with only being at my stables two days a week while I'm at Uni there isn't an awful lot horse related going on. There is 214 things on this list and first i'm going to put the things that I have already done!  2. Canter straight between two poles set parallel on the ground, make them as narrow as you can. This is something that I have done with Gatsby and other horses, I did this recently with Gatsby to work on my straightness when jumping and making sure we would get the right stride in canter before putting the jumps up.  8. Ride in the rain, intentionally. Living in the UK it rains a lot so if I stopped riding just cause it rained I probably would not do that much riding! 10. Try riding in a new saddle. On Gatsby alone I have rode in three different saddles on him, when Riding ...

Jumping Gatsby 13th September 2014.

Well Yesterday I jumped Gatsby it wasn't initially planned put I just needed to do something different and Gatsby and I haven't jumped for a while. We started off warming up and getting him nice and lose. when we moved on to getting ready for jumping we did trotting poles first we started off going over five trotting poles before we moved up to doing 7 trot poles. We tried 6 but Gatsby didn't like 6 he couldn't get his striding quite right. When we moved on to jumping we started off on my better rein which is to the right. We had trot poles going up to the jump and then a X jump. It felt good we managed to jump it really well but then we couldn't manage to get the right canter lead when landing eventually we got it right. Then we jumped to the left now this has always been my worst rein. But we got some good jumps I ride better to the left I just have a mental block on it that I really need to get past and sooner or later I will do it's jus taking a while. We di...

First time helping out at a University photoshoot (and acting like a big kid).

Just a quick post from me. Today has been a long day but in some aspects has also been really productive. This morning I helped my mum do the food shopping and then I watched T.V. for a bit before it was time to head in to University. I'd agreed with Charmaine that I would help her with her photoshoot and this is also meant that we got some pretty funny photographs!  This was far too much fun!  This evening I watched some more T.V. then went to my local youth group, it started off going really well and we had a good laugh, Evie and I even spent an hour playing on just dance. It's safe to say between us we hold most of the high scores on it.  But then an incident happened and it just went down hill from there, I'm not going to bore you with the details.  What we do when we are waiting for people to turn up, sat like this then we both went 'how you doing' in a really funny way when she walked in! After we had finished at the youth group we then went to ...

Day at the stables and LOTS of pictures!

Today has been a busy day. when I woke up this morning I didn't think that I was going to stay at my stables for the afternoon because my stomach wasn't great but as soon as I got there I decided I would do. I am glad I did!  We started off when I got there with me and JaimieLeigh giving Rascal and Sam a good groom as both of them were absolutely ditched! It was horrible. Then we switched horses to tack them up. I was riding Gatsby who was already being used in a lesson so I didn't have him to tack up and get ready but thats cool. Steph was here this week so that meant that she would be taking the lesson. She asked what we wanted to work on and I said I'd like to get him going in an outline again and also that I'd like to do some more work without stirrups. From the minute I got on I could tell he was going to be responsive. He was ready to go and I was ready to go with him. From the get go I didn't have to worry about forwardness I focused on my straightne...

printing, darkrooms and plaiting

Today has been a long and at some points extremely tiring day. This morning we had got a lecture where we looked at different sculptures it wasn't the most helpful thing for me (photographer) but it was still interesting to see!  We then went to Hobby Craft Where I put a new white paint and a new water brush thing, I wanted to get some guilding (not sure how you spell it) flakes but they hadn't got only multicoloured ones so I didn't get any. Then we went to McDonalds for our lunch which was nice the funny thing was I bumped in to Evie while I was there so Charmaine and Evie got to meet.  When we had had our lunch we went back to the campus and did some work in the print rooms, I really enjoyed doing this (we used blue and red ink and made purple). I've never done until now Lino Printing so I'm enjoying playing around with that. They'll come in use for my Silk Screen workshop too, then we had an induction in to the Dark room, we didn't know we neede...

PHOTOS!

Gatsby and I warming up :")  Love this photograph of JaimieLeigh and I, think it's really cute :)  Think these pictures show that I'm losing weight but also NO STIRRUPS and loving it!  This photo and the one below it are my two favourite photo's oh and the one with JaimieLeigh Love this feeling so much more confident and this horse has helped with that! He's proved to me that when I set my mind to it I can do it!  Until Next Time A Girl With A Dream

Happy Birthday Nan

It's strange to think that today it's my nans birthday and that she's not here. I finished at Uni early today so planned to just go home and go back to sleep! What I didn't know was both my uncles, my sister and my nephew were going to be at my house and that they were all taking flowers to the church (forgot to mention mum and dad but they're always around! :P). So I went with my family to take flowers to the church for my nan. It's still weird that she's not around nagging me to keep my fringe out my eyes and stop straightening my hair 'cause I do prefer your natural hair'. Or asking about my riding because my nan was also really into horses. After that Martin (one of my mums oldest friends (I think, am I right mum?)) came around to our house for a bit to, so the house was fairly busy but the best bit was the fact that I got to have lots of cuddle times with my little man again! Yep, having my nephew around is always the highlight of my day. W...
