day 2 of Magic's 'coming in to work' - lunging

So today was the second consistent day that Magic has had to do something different, where he's had to learn and he's had to think about what he is doing.  So I'll start with yesterday, yesterday Magic has had Bridle on again and went for his second walk out of the yard in a while. We did not walk far out just to the top of the drive and back, we then stood around and waited for a little while. Magic was super nervous due to the fact that he has never seen cows before. However he stood there nicely for a while and got used to the cows and I waited until he had settled down before bringing him back on to the yard. He then had to stand in the stable next to his (with his Bridle on) while he was wandering around, and at the same time I played Cow noises that I found on youtube (my mum's idea) to desensitise him to the sound so that next time it might be a little bit less scary.  Below are some pictures from yesterday. Such a beautiful big little baby. so proud ...

car desensitisation

So as I'm sure that you will all remember I used to walk Magic out all the time on the road. Unfortunately he then got poorly, so we had to stop doing this as at one point he was on box rest with literally no walks. So today for the first time in ages I took advantage of the sunny day and we went on our first 'walk out' of the year. It wasn't long but it was good and it was well behaved. Lynn has quite a long drive way down to the farm, so to get Magic used to traffic again we walked to the top of the drive and then stood for a few minutes.  Both my mum and jack were there to make him feel more comfortable with this and we took it entirely at Magic's pace. Allowing him to look at things but encouraging him to move on and not just stand still and freak out. We stood at the top of the drive for 5-6 minutes and just let him see what was coming and going until he was feeling much calmer and was happy to stand and trim the grass by the pavement!  We then walked ...

45. The move

6.45am - I got woke up, I was not happy to be woken up, I'd been dreaming about this move the whole night and I was beyond exhausted. I didn't go to sleep until quite late and then I was up, I'd set out all my clothes the night before for me and Jack so that we could just get up in the morning and go.  7am - Got to the yard, NOBODY was there which was exactly the way that I wanted it to be. I mucked out his stable at the old yard for the last time ever. I made sure that the stable was really clean and that I hadn't left anything in it. I loaded up the last few things in the car and we were ready to go. I received a lovely text from my riding teacher saying good luck today and that she knew that I would be fine, this gave me a real confidence boost as my riding teacher knows me better than anyone (horse wise) and she believed in me. Along with my mum, dad and boyfriend.  Do you think we had enough hi-viz on I was taking no chance that magic was going to not be ...

44. Exhausted

And the hard bit isn't even done yet! Today has been a hectic day, I had to cancel my lesson on Gatsby which I was gutted about because I had just got so much to do for moving Magic tomorrow at 7am! I am going to be exhausted and think that my poor boy will be asleep at that time to but I do love him.  This morning I woke up and the first thing I did was get my mum and jack to make the 40 minute drive to Cannock to a riding shop, where I got him loads of hi-viz, I might have gone a bit over the top but with where I live it's mainly country roads and the roads are narrow, and I'm just not risking someone not seeing him.  We then went up to the old yard, and gave magic some fuss, I think that he knows something is going on but I gave him a really good groom and made sure that he was okay and happy and then tried his hi-viz exercise sheet on, with his hi-viz leg boots. I don't think that he was very happy with it but I left it on him while he wondered around in hi...

16. Victorious

Today has been a wicked day, I did not get to ride because my riding teacher was not very well but I did go on a long walk with magic. We walked from my stables to my house and back to the yard again.  In total it took one hour and 20 minutes, and it was a total of nearly four miles but it was so much fun. This is the first long distance walk that my boy has done and he was amazing.  He only spooked twice, and neither time was his fault both times it was because of idiotic drivers that decided to do 60 and 70 miles per hour past him and to say that pissed me off was an under statement. I've also lost 4 pounds since Thursday and  honestly I do not think that I could have done that without my fitbit tracker and app. It has been such a great motivation and today I have managed to get all my sections that I need in the green in the green. For years on and off I've tried different diets and different weight loss tablets, well this year I decided to just focus on myself, change...

10. Walks out, dogs and relaxing.

Hi everyone, I decided that I would start off writing this blog test while Im curled up in bed before sorting magic out later on today. At the minute I'm curled up with Angel, while the boyfriend chills on the playstation. To say he's obsessed with GTA I think is an understatement. My gorgeous little puppy dog curled up in bed with me, Angel says she's a tired girly.  This morning Jack and I woke up really early, for once we were awake before even my mum was up and that never normally happens. We stayed in bed watching TV until everyone was up and then it was time to go do magic and he was such a good boy. As I am still in extreme amounts of pain mum said that she would start mucking out magics stable, she put his head collar on and he was a very good boy for it. Then jack and I took magic for a walk.  We only went out for about 25 minutes but he was really good, he looked at a few of the scary things but he was calm and relaxed the whole way again. At one point he ...

9. Not quite as planned.

Today hasnt quite gone as I planned that it would do, i woke up at 10 to 8 this morning sobbing, in agony and completely unable to move. I quickly woke jack up, and he helped me to get to the bathroom and move around until he had to go to work. Unfortunately due to the amount of pain that I was in it meant that I was unable to ride today. I spoke to my riding teacher and she said there was no point in my riding because of the fact that I had got hardly any balance.  However she thought that it would be a good idea for me to go up and brush gatsby before a small amount of time so I DID get Gatsby cuddles. Still one of my favourite horses, to be honest I think this boy will always hold a special place in my heart I love him so much.  After doing this I went to see Magic and ended up completely knackering myself. I got there at one and knew I had an hour before someone was coming to view one of the horses on the yard and I'd agreed magic would be in his stable while this pro...
