These things are sent to try us

I really feel like I am about to go mad! This year is not getting off to a great start and that is driving me mad, I blame jack for breaking a mirror on the second day of this year! only joking! Well I told you all about my issues with my house over the weekend, I emailed and said that these things needed to be resolved or environmental health would be getting involved, well yesterday morning I woke up to a email saying I was going to be handed my notice and would have to find somewhere else to live. This sent my head in to a bit of a whirl wind as I've been looking for months for somewhere else to live and nothing has come up. Then we found a lovely house that was literally round the corner from where we used to live in oakwood, it was clean tidy and soooo nice! I rang up this morning and applied for the house to get a phone call back this afternoon to tell me that the house had already been let to someone else. To say that I was gutted is an understatement! I've then spe...

6 month plans :)

Today has been a bit better day, my mum managed to get me a appointment with my regular doctor this morning to discuss being prescribed more morphine. After over a month of trying my GP saw me and within two minutes prescribed my regular pain relief, so now I can hopefully get my pain back to being under control which will help with the sleeping. I then came home and watched some T.V. with Jack before popping over to see my mum and get my new phone case. I then came home walked the dogs and did tea. So I've been spending a lot of time researching what I plan to do with Magic over the next few months and I have found some videos on youtube of things that I am aiming towards doing with Magic over the next 6 months. The first thing that I would like to say is that the videos that have been posted below are not my video's just things that I have taken inspiration from and would like to try. The first thing that I would like to try and do is lunging over poles, now for any ...

The List Part Two.

So now it is time to look at other things that I haven't done but would love to do from the list :), as you saw in part one there is quite a bit that I have done but there's so much more to do and loads more horsey memories to be made. Pink things to do while riding.   3. See how small of a circle you can trot without walking.  4. Ride a dressage test, but replace all trot sections with canter, all canter sections with walk, and all walk sections with canter. This is something I think would be interesting to do, Gatsby and I do a lot of canter work, and I would love to be better at dressages tests so maybe switching it up a little bit would mean I'd ride a test easier.  5. Attend a fundraiser or poker ride in your area. I wanted to do this with Gatsby last year, it was an endurance ride but I was unable to, hoping to when I have my own horse though! 7. Give a child who might otherwise not have access to horses a pony ride. More likely to do this when...

Riding Photographs

Really love this photograph this is when we were doing 7 trot poles   Quite like this photograph og me and Gatsby, this was just before a jump (we were doing trot poles in to a jump) and you can see he was getting quite excited. Don't know but I love this photo of Gatsby and I think that we both look pretty good.  Until Next Time A Girl With A Dream

Getting started on Module one and grid work and poles rally.

Today was my first actual day of doing something productive for our course. The theme of our first module is looking at the body. This is such a broad subject but a subject that I am looking forward to because pretty much anything will fit in with it. The things about this subject that I found the most interesting are 'manipulation of the human body' because this allows me to explore the use of corsets, the use of piercings and tattoos. This second idea that I had was looking at how people hide their body away because it's not the typical size 8 body along with many other things e.g. because they don't like a particular part of the body. I've already done the first page of my journal, made a good start on the first page of my sketchbook. I am going to be keeping an up to date diary of what I do when for my course. The second idea is the idea that I looked at first so I'm looking at the use of masquerade masks as I think they're really pretty.  We also g...

Gatsby and I jumping - 7th September 2013 - Pictures :)

I love these photo's I don't know why but I love it, I found it so easy to go in to this position and my legs weren't burning as much. I think slowly but surely I'm getting there.  I also really like this picture :)  This was the worst jump out of all of them! After this photo was taken we knocked the jump down it was awful. Just before this photo was taken I froze up the photo's below this one you can see the difference and how we started to improve.  I love how happy and active Gatsby looks in this picture he really loves jumping and it is nice to see how much he enjoys it. You can tell how much he loves it compared to doing the flat work.  This was the first jump and it was also the first time going over the jump in trot. We became much more relaxed and chilled out while jumping. I need to trust myself more and realise that I can do it, I just need to believe in myself.  Until Next Time A Girl With A Dream

Jumping Gatsby

Today was another good ride on Gatsby. I got there for 12:30 so that I could groom Gatsby and tack her up, I really enjoyed spending time grooming him, and he was really good. The only thing that I found difficult was picking out his back feet, as the ground has clay in it in the fields that the horses go out in, it's either really soft and easy to get out of the hooves or it is rock hard. Today it had dried so it was more difficult to get out.  When I got on him Fiona asked me what I would like to do with Gatsby today, I immediately said jumping as I loved doing it yesterday. I warmed him up making sure he stretched and had a forward strong rhythm in his walk, at one point it looked like he was 'power walking' and it felt so funny but it felt great at the same time if that makes sense! It was odd but good. Just after I had started warming Gatsby up, we heard the gate go and all I could hear Fiona say was 'that's Jenny'. Jenny is Gatsby's owner and she ...

It doesn't rain it pours.

I got to see Gatsby today and my uncle got to meet Gatsby. Today was my weekly lesson. When we got there it looked like the sun was going to come out, it had been raining earlier but there were blue skies and even a bit of sunshine. I groomed Gatsby and tacked him up and even got to get on him early. When I got on him he initially seemed to be quite lazy which we were expecting as he is now turned out at night. We spent some time warming up getting both Gatsby and me to stretch and loosen up. After the week I have had it felt so good to be back in the saddle. We spent quite a long time walking doing transitions. We then tried doing turn on the forehand and it went so well. For those of you that have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I tried doing this before but Gatsby kept backing up and me so we never successfully managed it. Well we did today he was great. Going to the right he was a bit stiffer to start with her just kept backing up. However when over exaggeratin...

A day at the stables

This morning was time for me to get up and early and go up to the stables to help out.  I had to be there for 8:30 and I was staying there til 10:30 we mucked out all the horses, cleaned there waters and put fresh in and then we filled the haynets and hung them up as well as filling the hay nets for tonight. when we had finished that we swept the yard and had finished 20 minutes early so I was talking to Elaine and Fiona about pony club. The launch day for pony club is Monday 29th April at 4;30 every 12 weeks there will be assessments towards badges. Well work through bronze the gold levels and then levels E to A and at either a or b we can do our stage three. Instead of having to do one, two and then three.  I can't wait to do it, I've sent my pony club form off today.  Mum picked me up at 10:30. we then had to go to the other side if derby to dressmaker about my sixth form ball dress. To start with she didn't think she could do anything but when looking inside and ...

Gatsby - Canter and Pole Work

Gatsby is such a fantastic horse! We had a really good ride today even though it was raining, haling, sleeting and almost snowing! The weather was awful but Gatsby made getting wet worth every single minute! I groomed and tacked him up and made sure he was all comfy, and then got on when I first got on I couldn't decide whether I wanted to do Pole work or canter work so Fiona said why not do both we could canter and do pole work, I got really excited. The exercise that I did was super fun and something that Gatsby and I really took to. What we had to do was Trot over three trotting poles making sure he was in an outline and forward then as soon as we were over the last pole we had to go in to canter doing a 20metre circle then just before we got back to the trotting poles we had to transition to trot. Now the last part would be the fun part with Gatsby because once he gets going doing pole work he doesn't want to stop doing pole work and the same with his canter work. So Fiona...
