An Eventful Ride With Gatsby - 24th January 2015.

Well guys, I don't think that this post is going to be very long from me as I am still not quite 100%  back to normal. I've been on antibiotics all week for my throat but that is not getting any better and my ear is now starting to get painful as to. So I think on a day off I need to get back to the doctors.  Saturday I had my weekly lesson on Gatsby and to say it was eventful was an understatement. It started off really well, Gatsby was warming up nicely, he was providing me with a good stretch before I even asked him to pick up the contact in both walk and trot. He was a little bit lazy off the leg but other than that he was being very well behaved.  When I started asking him to pick up the contact he was willing to do it, we needed to get more hind end engagement but it was still really really good. He was soft and forward, we did a small amount of canter because it was important for Gatsby and I not to over do it with the canter work before we tried riding th...

BYRDS - A Scribe's day out!

On Sunday Fiona and I made the journey down to Keysoe, the College Equestrian Centre. The facilities there were stunning, they were honestly my dream equestrian centre, it had a massive out door school, enough for three dressage arena's that were being judged. There was a stunning indoor school, the great thing about this was you could sit eating (having our breakfast) and watch through the windows while the riders warmed their horses up. There was also a really nice equestrian shop that Fiona bought a stunning waistcoat from for the summer season. They also had a cross country course set up that I could see from a distance but I didn't see up close. The college goes on both sides of the road, it is truly massive, there show stables also looked amazing.  When we got there we had our breakfast as we had arrived earlier and we were not going to have a lunch break so we needed something that was going to last all day. Once we had eaten Fiona explained to me what my job was go...

A quick Video,

Here is a quick video that i meant to post the other day, it shows me and Gatsby mainly at canter but also occasionally a bit of our trot work, it includes pictures as well as Video clips, but I think that it is effective and really shows the changes that are happening with me and Gatsby. I love having Videos of my riding as it really shows how much I have changed in my riding and also how much Gatsby is changing too. At the end of my lesson on Saturday Fiona said 'how impressed she was with me and Gatsby' and it was just so nice to hear because I know that because I am improving my riding I am also improving Gatsby and how he works. I've helped him on getting in an outline in the walk and trot and now together Gatsby and I will get through our Canter block. My problem is that I tense up and I worry about falling off. Gatsby's got two problems the first is that he tends to rush in to the canter  but also when he tries to drop into an outline in Canter he panics and tri...

Yard Day

Today was my day to go up to the stables and help out and I loved it. It's going to sound so weird but I really don't dislike mucking out stables, I started on Gatsby and probably spent the longest in his stable or maybe Solomans because they are both so messy, you'd think they would know that the hay that they have put in their stables is for them to eat not to take out of the hay net and then put it in the floor and play around with it. I really wonder where horses get these ideas from, maybe it's to imitate how they eat in the wild I really don't know but I would love to know. When we'd finished doing the stables (I did four of them) we then we swept the yard, so that it looked nice and neat and tidy for when the people riding came at 2pm. We then bought in the horses, Gatsby was so funny when we started getting ready to bring the horses in, he walked down towards the gate and he was getting all excited that he was coming in but because of the way that the h...

Switching Sides.

You might think that this is a bit of a weird title post but by the end of this post it will become clear what it means. But before we move on to the riding part of my post, I'll do the everyday part.  To start with my mum had to take my dad to the doctors as he has been having a stiff neck and back and finding it really uncomfortable to move, they've referred him on to a physiotherapist. This afternoon I accompanied my mum on a business appointment. Early in the week she made three special hand made wedding cards for a family and the wedding invitations needed to be sent abroad so she only had two hours from the start til the end of the project.  They said that they would ring her back and sort out doing the rest of the cards. Today we went back to the same family and sorted out what we were doing for the bulk majority of wedding cards and then what we were doing for the other 10 Special cards for the same wedding. Now on to the riding, today I think that my riding w...
hey guys sooo updating you on my life! not much is really happening im doing my art coursework the majority of the time which as you can probably imagine with a broken hand is not the easiest jobs and am spending a lot of time reading fanfictions (stories based on books that are already out but some of them are really good and they fill up time when theres not much else you can do) so my next theme for art is as my art teacher keeps saying 'afternoon tea' which is what it says looking at cupcakes and still life drawings which is something that i have never really done except when drawing flowers! Below is a picture of the cupcake that I have done and either in this post or my next post I will try and put a picture of the drawing of cupcakes on a cake stand that I have been working on all night. Cupcake cut out on the cricut ( take a look at my mums blog and see who she follows for more about what a cricut is ) i then empossed and debossed the broen and pink cupcake and st...

why I ride and what it means to me?

Hey my loyal followers :) I decided to let you all in on why I tide and what it means to me, and why it's so important. I've been riding for about 10/11 years now, and I'm still riding everyone thought that it would be something I did for a while and gave up on like i did on most other sports but that never happened, I've stuck at it and kept working hard, because I know what I want to do. To me riding isn't just a sport, it's a passion, its something that means the world to me but it is also something that is completely indescribable because the feeling it creates the minute I'm even near a horse or think about a horse I know that its something I could never stop doing. I could never stop doing it and plan on doing this my entire life! But I'm going to try my hardest and put it in to words so you can know a little bit more about me and why I do what I do. I might not be the best rider in the world or the most natural rider in the world. But I have...
