Thank you

First of all I want to say thank you for everyone's comments on my last past, you're support has been appreciated and I just want to say a HUGE thank you.  Today was a more relaxed day, I've not heard how Evie is but seen as she went out earlier I'm going to assume that she is getting there. My bruises are coming out really quickly and you can tell that they are going to be really dark. I'm also insanely tired.  So  Until Next Time  A Girl With A Dream

Car Accident

First off i want to say sorry to you all for not updating recently but unfortunately there has been a lot going on over the past week.  Tuesday evening I hit a patch of black ice while I was driving my car, the car hit the curb and during that process i managed to damage my shoulder. Then last night things got even worse. Evie and I had gone to see one of our mates. We left his house and were heading home. The A38 was closed so we had gone along the back roads. We were coming up to what was quite a nasty corner, going in to the corner Evie lost control of the car. The car spun, hit a wall and a tree, then spun again in to the middle of the road.  We could both smell burning so my main priority was to get us both out the car we both got out of the car and away from it before falling to the floor and getting really upset. It was obvious that her car was going to be a write off (not sure if i spelt that right). Half of the engine was in the tree and the other half was st...

Riding Vettie - 23/11/13

Today has been a good day for my riding. I was riding Vettie today and after the two good lessons I had had last weekend I was feeling a lot more confident about my riding. I knew that I wanted to work on my position mainly my legs as my right legs heel comes up.    I spent a while warming up making sure that Vettie was nice and loose. I also wanted to make sure that I had got an energetic walk so that when I wanted to pick up the contact it would be easier to do. When I started picking up the contact I was surprised that Vettie was listening incredibly well to me and I was able to drop him in to an outline. Two weeks ago I had been struggling with getting Vettie in to an outline but this week I could do it. Once I'd got the outline more consistent in the walk I moved up to the trot.  In the trot I had to find the right balance between being firm and half halting him and keeping the energy flowing. It was important that I kept my position very tight and didn'...

Today has been a long day, as I had two of my teeth pulled out and was sedated for it. So I'm not going to write a long post today I'll fill you all in on what you've been missing tomorrow. Until Next Time A Girl With A Dream

Jumping Gatsby 18/11/13

So today I had my half an hour private lesson on Gatsby. Fiona said that I could do some jumping with him and I was really excited. It's been a long time since I've put jumping and enjoyment in the same place. It was nice that it was only half an hour because it meant that I don't get tired easily. We started off doing lots of walk, trot transitions and keeping a nice rhythm.  I then put my stirrups up and did some work going over the poles. When we started jumping we started off with a reasonable sized cross. Gatsby and I had a really nice rhythm so we quickly moved it up to a straight across. We were starting coming up to the jump in trot but Gatsby got excitable and we ended up going over it in canter once two. Fiona said I looked more confident and a lot stronger in my position which was really nice to here. We went over the jump a couple more times all though this time we trotted up to the jump, went over it then cantered up to the long side. Then before we went up...

Back on Gatsby

Today has been a really good day. I absolutely loved my ride. It's been a quite a while since I've done any canter work and today after watching one of the other girls lessons I felt the need to do some canter work.  I was back on Gatsby which I really enjoyed. I was looking forward to my ride but at the start I wasn't 100% sure how it was going to go. We spent the first part of the lesson working on the outline. I found that he was dropping a lot easier in to an outline but I think that I was over thinking it a bit to much. I didn't get it 100% but I was happy with where we left it off. I found that he was really locking his neck in place so I was having to be really firm with him to get him to flex.  When we moved on to the canter work Fiona asked me if I was feeling nervous which I said that honestly yes I was. I think in my mind I thought because I hadn't done any canter work in a while I would still be cantering how I used to be which wasn't great ...
