Nan Update!

Today has been a long day, My nan had to be in hospital for 10:00am which meant that she needed to leave the house by 9:15am to make sure that she was there on time as this hospital as in the middle of Derby. My mum and I then went and did some banking jobs, and went to get her car washed, after this we had to take her Car to our local tyre repair place as for a while the tyre had got a slow puncture. We found out that it was a  nail that was in the tyre and it turns out that the garage that we had bought it from new it was there and had even marked that it was there. Now surely you would replace the tyre (not sure how you spell that!) or repair it or whatever needed doing, not sell it and not mention it when you know that it was there. We then went straight through to our supermarket to do the weekly shop and make sure that we had got some different foods that my nan might want to eat. As we were driving back my Uncle Rang and said they were transferring her to Derby's other hospital, the main hospital. She was to be put straight on a drip as they were worried about her low blood pressure and the fact that she was really dehydrated. My uncle drove her over as they said it would be faster and she got told she would be there for the majority of the weekend. She's had a brain scan it's come back clear, blood tests they've come back clear, memory test she answered most of the questions right (but she can't remember the day and is getting all the events muddled). She then had a chest x-ray and is having hourly observations all night. Nothing is telling them why her blood pressure is dropping, and the doctor just kept contradicting himself. He told her not to eat a lot, she doesn't, not to get too hot she doesn't, not to stand up to quick, she doesn't. He then said that he knew what was wrong but didn't tell her what was wrong and that his job was to get her more mobile and get her more confident. We left at six and then had to have an argument in the car park because a car had broken down in the exit and the car park attendant was still letting people in, instead of shutting the car park, he eventually did this but then getting out was a nightmare. While my mum ran in to McDonald's to get me some tea my Nan's doctor rang and said the key thing that we were all thinking how is getting her more confident going to change the fact that there is such a big drop in her blood pressure. Eight hours later she has got NO canular in! NO drip in which it had been stressed how much she NEEDED to be on a drip, and when my mum said this she got told 'well it has been written up for her to go onto a drip', well then WHY isn't she on a drip? This is what really annoys me with hospitals it is always later will do, something else comes up that puts another patients care at the bottom of the list! Mum left my nan at 9:35pm and nothing that should have been done had been done and she hadn't had any of the tablets that she needs to do.

Not sure how tomorrow is going to work out but I will be riding Gatsby, so will have a horse post and another update for everyone! Thank you everybody for your kind wishes to!

Until Next Time

  1. Sorry your nan has had such a rough go of it lately. Working in the medical field in the US, in it interesting to hear stories from other places. Sounds like a little lack of communication between staff. Hope she feels better bumped up with some fluids.

  2. I am suprised at how diferent things sound than they are here. I am a nurse and I can't imagine keeping things from a patient.

  3. It's never been very organised over here, which is really annoying they say they don't have enough money to get new better things.

CON ARTIST - NICKI WILLIAMS - BEWARE

Okay so this post has taken me a while to post for several reasons but the main one being just how angry this woman has made me.  For those of you that have been following my blog for a long while you will know that back around October of 2016, I was introduced to a woman called Nicki Williams, she was a friend of a friend that was supposed to be opening a centre for rehoming and rescuing animals, but also for horses working with soldiers that has PTSD. We hit it off straight away and came what I thought to be good friends. However warning bells should have probably rang sooner. By January or February of last year the horses that I had agreed to look after (that she had got on loan) Bella and Arthur, she was being threatened that she would have them taken off her by the control of horses act, because she hadn't been paying the rent for the field. Although Nicki reassured me that she had done, she even showed my 'payments' that had been made to Angie. I ended up getti...

Magic's 2nd day in his new home

It has been a while since I have posted on here but I thought it was the perfect time to restart the blog. So to start with I'll give you all an update on what's been going on over the years since I've posted and then I will be back to regularly posting and keeping you all updated on the world of magic.  The first big change who I need to introduce is Jaxon, Jaxon is mine and Jack's 7 month old baby, he was born on the 7th July 2020. Part of this blog will be dedicated to overcoming the challenges of having a small child and owning a horse, even when everyone told me it was impossible to do. Jax has a best friend Bailey who is mums new 1 year old puppy and he has the best time trying to play with her.  Of course Magic is one of Jaxon's best friends.  Now for an update on Magic, he is doing really well, I can't remember if I ever told you, but he moved yards last year when I was pregnant with little man. Unfortunately this yard just didn't quite ...

Olympics - good bad or both?

In the Beijing Olympics in 2008 the horses used in the pentathlon were said to cause farcical scenes with fall after fall after fall. This was said to be the fault of the horses that were either hired or loaned to the competitors. It was not blamed to be rider error or a combination of both rider error and horse error, it was labelled as being the horses fault or this is what it said in ' Horse and Hound Magazine'. This horse was said to have been to spooky and sharp, but is it not a combination of rider's aids and rider error AS WELL as the horse being spooky. Can we really just blame it on the horse, when we are the ones that tell the horse what to do, by no means am i saying it was 'just the riders fault' couldn't it have been a combination of both?.    For the London 2012 Olympics it was said that a total of two years if no longer was spent attempting to find the right horse for the right competitor. They made sure that the horse was at the right l...
